The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) announced today Broadway star and multiple time Tony Award and Drama Desk nominee Kelli O'Hara will be honored for her work in the theater at the NYMF 2012 Annual Gala taking place on Sunday, November 11th at The Hudson Theatre (145 W. 44th Street) beginning at 6:00pm. Kelli is currently starring on Broadway in Nice Work If You Can Get It, and was seen on Broadway in South Pacific, The Pajama Game, The Light In The Piazza and many others.

Bay Area Cabaret kicks off its 2012-2013 season with Motown legend Mary Wilson, back for her first show in the historic Venetian room since performing there with the "Supremes" more than two decades ago.

The South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) today announced key attendance statistics for its sixth season. SOPAC's 2011-2012 Season featured 65 performances which drew a cumulative total of 17,305 attendees (an increase of about 23.65 percent) including six total sellout shows.

The off-Broadway production of Rent closed last night, September 9, at New World Stages. The production played 32 previews and 450 performances. Direct from the 2012 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and London's Leicester Square Theatre, Mickey & Judy, created by and starring Canadian actor/vocalist Michael Hughes, makes its New York City debut at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre, tonight, September 10th and 15th, and 20th.

Adapted from Rapp's New York Times best-selling memoir, Without You tells the story of the early days of what became the Broadway phenomenon Rent, from the perspective of this original cast member, complete with songs from the show as well as fresh music coolly performed by a five-piece rock band.

The show's messages: "No Day But Today" and "Measure Your Life in Love" resound in this production.

Done to death by companies up and down the country over the past few years, Jonathan Larson's RENT can't quite be accused of being underexposed. As a result, it's a bit of a struggle to summon much enthusiasm about a new London production (particularly when there's another one waiting to open shortly after this one closes) but unless you've attended the Pulitzer Prize-winning rock opera at its peak on Broadway, you're unlikely to have seen it done as well as it currently is being at the Greenwich Theatre.

On Twitter Watch, Anthony Rapp wrote 'I honestly didn't expect such an amazing response to Without You here; I thought UK folks might not like emotional shows. Thx all 4 yr msgs. Ouch. A UK blogger: 'Rapp has the dazed look of a man who has just been punched in the side of the head and is still seeing stars.' I was expecting a less warm response to Without You over here. We've gotten a couple lukewarm reviews but most have been great. Case in point: for the same performance I was called a disaster by one critic and perfect by another. To each his (or her) own... I've always said that if you're allergic to RENT (& there are folks who are) then a part of you is a little dead inside. Anthony got the part, but Jonathan died suddenly the night before Rent's off-Broadway premiere.'
