The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) began earlier this week on July 8th and will continue through July 28th. An additional slate of special events, free events, staged readings and several educational panel discussions will be announced shortly. Below, check out a roundup of photos of this year's casts!

Tony Award-winning Broadway superstar Idina Menzel and popular BroadwayHollywood crossover star Taye Diggs - husband and wife in real life - will host a special fundraising event for their kids' charity A BROADER WAY later this month, hosted by Whoopi Goldberg.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival welcomes back Anthony Rapp to the festival as he stars in the staged reading of Shawn Cody's epic fantasy THE WATER DREAM directed by Jim True-Frost. The event will take place tonight, July 10 and the 11th at The Pershing Square Signature Center, The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre (480 West 42nd St.). Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by visiting www.nymf.org. This event is being produced by Royal Family Productions.

Last week, NYMF presented a special preview of the 2013 featuring musical selections from: Julian Po, The Water Dream, Mother Divine, Marry Harry, Crossing Swords, Legacy Falls, Standby, Volleygirls and Dizzy Miss Lizzie's Roadside Revue Presents The Brontes. Inspired by Rat Pack-era Vegas, this production brings together the talents of CSC's Artistic Director Steve Maler, music director Colin Thurmond and choreographer Yo-el Cassel. The audiences of the Hollywood Fringe Festival have flocked to Liz Femi's TAKE ME TO THE POORHOUSE, directed by Jane Morris. Remaining performances are June 19th, 21st and 28th at The Lounge Theatre, 6201 Santa Monica Blvd.

At LeakyCon, a convention that grew out of the worldwide Harry Potter fan community, Scholastic, the U.S. publisher of the Harry Potter series, will reveal the third of the seven new Harry Potter covers illustrated by bestselling author/illustrator, Kazu Kibuishi. The artwork depicts a key moment in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the third novel by J.K. Rowling about the boy wizard.

The producers of 'Grind' have announced Pasha Pellosie has joined the project as their final lead, Thane. A relative newcomer, Pasha has been on The Carrie Diaries and Law and Order: SVU. He joins previously announced Anthony Rapp (RENT) and Claire Coffee (NBC's Grimm) in this independent musical short film.

Today in 1999, You're A Good Man Charlie Brown closed at the Ambassador Theatre, where it ran for 149 performances. You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown is a 1967 musical comedy with music and lyrics by Clark Gesner, based on the characters created by cartoonist Charles M. Schulz in his comic strip Peanuts. The revival cast featured Anthony Rapp as Charlie Brown, Kristin Chenoweth as Sally and Roger Bart as Snoopy.
