The Guthrie Theater has announced the return of its summer acting program, A Guthrie Experience, following a four-year hiatus. Founded in 1997 under the leadership of Kenneth Washington, A Guthrie Experience brings M.F.A. actors from around the country to the Twin Cities for a seven-week intensive and performance experience.

Originally scheduled to open the theater’s 2021–2022 subscription season in January 2022, the show was later postponed due to cases of COVID-19 among vaccinated members of the company. A Raisin in the Sun will now play April 30 – June 5, 2022, on the McGuire Proscenium Stage.

Theater Latte Da announces the cast for John Cameron Mitchell's genre-bending, fourth-wall-smashing sensation Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Winner of 2014 Tony award for Best Musical Revival, Hedwig and the Angry Inch features music and lyrics by Stephen Trask. Annie Enneking and Theater Latte Da Artistic Director Peter Rothstein co-direct the production with Music Director Jason Hansen. Performances begin March 27 at the Ritz Theater (345 13th Avenue NE in Minneapolis).

This holiday season, the Jungle Theater presents THE WICKHAMS: CHRISTMAS AT PEMBERLEY, a companion to last year's wildly popular Miss Bennet - both continuations of Jane Austen's beloved novel, Pride and Prejudice. Starring Angela Timberman as the adored housekeeper Mrs. Reynolds, the play's action takes place in the cozy warmth of the Pemberley kitchen where the servants are bustling with holiday preparations. Directed by Christina Baldwin, this co-commission, co-world premiere (with Chicago's Northlight Theater and the Bay Area's Marin Theatre Company) runs December 1-30 at the Lyn-Lake neighborhood theater, located at 2951 Lyndale Ave. S. in Minneapolis. 

Park Square Theatre cherishes its summertime tradition of cozying up audiences with a good mystery. This year's edition for the company's 43rd season - Ken Ludwig's BASKERVILLE: A SHERLOCK HOLMES MYSTERY - offers a fresh take for Holmes devotees AND a special invitation for those who've never spent an evening with the iconic sleuth. McKenna Kelly-Eiding (closing a spectacular run in THE WOLVES at The Jungle) stars as Sherlock Holmes and Sara Richardson* (last seen at Park Square in THE LIAR) as Dr. Watson.

Park Square begins the new year on the Andy Boss Thrust Stage with the Midwest premiere of Hansol Jung's timely drama Cardboard Piano. Signe V. Harriday directs the powerful play about romance and redemption against the backdrop of inexplicable violence. A third new theater company is making its #TCTheater debut this month, following a charming new original musical RAGTIME WOMEN by Theatre Elision and LITTLE WARS, a powerful story of women in their prime brought to us by Prime Productions. Now we have Trademark Theater, whose mission is to 'expand the breadth of original theatrical works born in Minnesota by creating, developing, and producing dynamic stage productions.' Their first creation is a new adaptation of an old story - Robin Hood. And it most definitely is original and dynamic. I saw a reading of it as part of Illusion Theater's 'Fresh Ink' series last year and was impressed with the storytelling and original music. But now, with the added elements of movement, costumes, set, lighting, and all of the theater magic, plus a super talented and energetic young cast, it's something truly exciting.

Dancing their way from summer into fall, Joe Chvala and The Flying Foot Forum present a characteristically bold new production throughout downtown Saint Paul inspired by the city's history. Passing Through Pig's Eye, a roving performance of wildly entertaining and eclectic dance, music and comedy, will engage audiences of all ages. Playing August 25 - September 11, Passing Through Pig's Eye is collaboration by 16 of the Twin Cities' finest dancers, singers, actors, and musicians including: Rush Benson, Jeremy Bensussan, Joe Chvala, Annie Enneking, Brian Evans, Karla Grotting, Galen Higgins, Adam Kiesling, Kaleena Miller, Natalie Nowytski, Peter O'Gorman, and Darrius Strong.

Since 2006, the Workhaus Collective provided Minneapolis-based, nationally-emerging playwrights the opportunity to lead the productions of their most innovative, commercially-challenging ideas. In 10 years, the Collective produced 25 new, critically acclaimed plays, many of which continued on to other theaters around the world. After its final production of 2016, the Workhaus Collective is voluntarily ceasing operation without debt.
