North by Northeast (NXNE) announces new programming as part of the NXNE FILM FESTIVAL, including six Canadian premieres and eight world premieres. NXNE Film will screen more than 40 movies from June 11-17 at the NFB Mediatheque, Royal Cinema, and Toronto Underground Cinema.

The Belcourt Theatre presents Castles in the Sky: Miyazaki, Takahata and the Masters of Studio Ghibli, a film retrospective of the renowned Japanese animation studio from June 1-13. In addition to the series' 15 animated films, the Belcourt will also feature Studio Ghibli's most recent release, THE SECRET WORLD OF ARRIETY.

As first reported exclusively by BroadwayWorld.com last week, the Public Theater confirmed today that Tony Award-winner Donna Murphy has been cast as The Witch in Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's beloved musical INTO THE WOODS, directed by Timothy Sheader with co-direction by Liam Steel. Murphy last performed at the Delacorte in the Shakepeare in the Park production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood in 1985. INTO THE WOODS will begin previews on Monday, July 23 and continue for five weeks through Saturday, August 25 with an official press opening on Thursday, August 9.

The Fred Kavli Theatre is set to welcome the French bourgeois, presenting the national tour of LES MISERABLES for a week-long engagement from September 4th through the 9th. SISTER ACT's newest star Raven-Symone has been sidelined from the production for several performances last week as she battles the flu. BroadwayWorld has confirmed that the star is on the mend and will be back in the production tomorrow, April 10.
