LOS ANGELES, Oct. 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ Film Independent, the non-profit arts organization that produces the Spirit Awards and Los Angeles Film Festival, is pleased to announce the producers selected for its 14 th annual Producing Lab. The 2014 Producing Lab is supported by lead funderTime Warner Foundation. Additional funding is provided by theAlfred P. Sloan Foundation and National Endowment for the Arts. The four-week intensive program is designed to help filmmakers develop skills as creative independent producers.Producers participate with a feature length narrative project that they are in the process of producing. Through the lab, Fellows develop a strategy and action plan to bring their current projects to fruition. The lab also helps to further the careers of the Producing Fellows by introducing them to film professionals who can advise them on both the craft and business of independent producing. (more...)

Seattle Repertory Theatre's Board of Trustees announced today Braden Abraham's appointment as Acting Artistic Director, effective immediately. Abraham formerly served as Associate Artistic Director and has been on the artistic staff of Seattle Rep since 2003. The appointment, extending through June 30, 2016, comes on the heels of the death of Artistic Director Jerry Manning, who passed away suddenly in April. (more...)

Kenopsia Productions and Blind Pug Arts Collective have announced the run of Fault Lines: Two One Acts, a compilation of two bold and biting one act plays that explore the boundaries of familial love, and the dangers of parental protection going too far. The show begins with The Rest, is Silence by rising playwright Kelsey Jayne Hogan, and concludes with frag by Michael John Garces, Artistic Director of Cornerstone Theatre Company.
