New York Theatre Workshop Partners With FAB Cafe During Peter and the Starcatcher, Opens 2/18

FAB Cafe, the artists' cafe in the East 4th Street Cultural District, is planning a sweet surprise to celebrate the opening week of New York Theatre Workshop's musical Peter and the Starcatcher. FAB Cafe will celebrate its new concession partnership with New York Theatre Workshop by offering delicious mini-cupcakes from the Lower East Side Girls Club's Sweet Things Bakeshop starting February 18, 2011. Cupcakes will be sold for $1 and will be available in the theater's lobby during performances and at the Cafe's main location at 75 East 4th Street. For kids, it doesn't get better - an entertaining, exciting show hand in hand with sweets.

The Generations Project will once again bring together artists and leaders, across generations, for this forum on vision, leadership and mentorship in the arts. Bring a friend, invite a mentor, and join the dialogue, as we continue to discuss the future of our art form and our role in moving it forward. Last year's Generations events were packed to capacity- most recently, in November, we were thrilled to be joined by actor Denis O'Hare, director Michael Mayer, and playwright Annie Baker as panelists.

Rising songwriters Jonathan Reid Gealt and Kait Kerrigan & Brian Lowdermilk will have a joint celebration of their respective CD releases 'Thirteen Stories Down' and 'Our First Mistake' on Sh-K-Boom Records with back-to-back concerts at downtown venue (Le) Poisson Rouge on Monday, February 7th. Gealt's concert begins at 7pm. Kerrigan-Lowdermilk start at 10pm. Doors open thirty minutes before show time. Tickets are $20 for each show or $30 for a full-night concert pass.
Andy Hamingson Departs The Public Theater; Joey Parnes Takes Over

Public Theater Chairman of the Board Warren Spector and Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson announced today that Mr. Hamingson has stepped down from his position at The Public Theater for personal reasons but will stay on as a consultant for two months to help with the transition. Joey Parnes, who was the Executive Producer at The Public Theater from 1994-1996 and has been the Executive Producer on The Public's recent Broadway productions, will be the interim Executive Director while a nationwide search is conducted for Mr. Hamingson's successor.

Following the success of last summer's Shakespeare in the Park productions of The Merchant of Venice and The Winter's Tale, The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) will once again stage two Shakespeare plays in repertory, running June 6 through July 31 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Daniel Sullivan, who recently directed Twelfth Night and The Merchant of Venice in the Park, will direct ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL and David Esbjornson, who directed Much Ado About Nothing in the Park, will direct MEASURE FOR MEASURE. Bank of America returns as lead sponsor of Shakespeare in the Park 2011, supporting The Public's mission to keep Shakespeare in the Park free.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) will begin previews Tuesday, February 1 for the world premiere production of Rinne Groff's COMPULSION, directed by Oskar Eustis. The cast features Hannah Cabell, Matte Osian, and Mandy Patinkin, with puppet design and puppetry supervision by Matt Acheson. COMPULSION runs through Sunday, March 13 at The Public Theater (425 Lafayette Street) with an official press opening on Thursday, February 17. Tickets are on sale now.
