Chris Botti Announces 10th Annual Holiday Residency at Blue Note Jazz Club

Blue Note Jazz Club, one of the world's most iconic jazz and blues venues based in Greenwich Village, has announced world renowned trumpeter Chris Botti's milestone 10th Annual Holiday Residency. The three-week engagement at the club will run Monday, December 15, 2014 through Sunday, January 4, 2015, with two shows each evening (including Christmas Eve and New Years Eve performances). Today, the Houston Symphony announced the retirement of long-time Houston Symphony Chorus Director Charles Hausmann. Over an illustrious tenure of 28 years, Dr. Hausmann has prepared and conducted the Chorus for more than 700 concerts. Since he became director of the Chorus in 1986, Dr. Hausmann has collaborated with many of the world's great conductors, including Hans Graf, Christoph Eschenbach, Claus Peter Flor and Robert Shaw. The 21st annual Cinema Against AIDS at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France, May 22, raised a record $35 million for amfAR. The star-studded black-tie event was presented by Worldview Entertainment, Bold Films, and BVLGARI. amfAR Fundraising Chairman Sharon Stone and longtime amfAR supporter Harvey Weinstein helped to lead the legendary live auction, along with the evening's official auctioneer, Simon de Pury. A highlight was the sale of a gilded woolly mammoth skeleton in a colossal steel and glass vitrine, created by renowned artist Damien Hirst. Titled Gone but not Forgotten, the three-meter tall Mammuthus Primigenius, which became extinct over 10,000 years ago, fetched a record $15 million. This was the highest grossing lot in amfAR's history. The evening also featured a stunning all-red fashion show curated by Carine Roitfeld, and outstanding performances by Robin Thicke, Lana Del Rey, Aloe Blacc, and Andrea Bocelli. (more...)
