Noche Flamenca Replaces Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba at Meany Center for the Performing Arts

Meany Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Washington announced today that Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba has cancelled its November 16-18, 2017 performances at Meany Hall. The company was unable to secure travel visas due to the recent suspension of visa processing at the U.S. Embassy in Havana. The company has been replaced by Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenca, one of the world's top touring flamenco troupes.

The American Dance Festival (ADF) will present the 2018 Samuel H. Scripps/American Dance Festival Award for lifetime achievement to acclaimed choreographer, Ronald K. Brown. Established in 1981 by Samuel H. Scripps, the annual award honors choreographers who have dedicated their lives and talent to the creation of modern dance. Celebrated dancer, choreographer, and teacher Dianne McIntyre will present the $50,000 award in a brief ceremony on Thursday, June 28th at 8:00pm, prior to the performance of Evidence, A Dance Company at Reynolds Industries Theater.

Choreographer Henning Rübsam and his company SENSEDANCE present two programs at THE KAYE PLAYHOUSE at Hunter College, 68th Street & Lexington Avenue, NYC. A tribute to Rübsam's late mentor Beverly Blossom opens the run on Sunday, November 1, 2015 after which Rübsam shows new work with his company SENSEDANCE in the program AND THERE WAS MORNING. His ensemble will perform three world premieres to new music by contemporary composers, Monday – Wednesday, November 2 – 4, 2015. All curtain times are at 7:00pm.

On the heels of a successful run of their first cabaret act, Look Who's in Love, distinguished entertainers Christine Reisner-Rebic (an international cabaret chanteuse and dancer) and Don Rebic (Broadway and cabaret musical director, jazz pianist and composer) took their cabaret act into the recording studio. "Lucky in Love" features timeless standards as well as four songs of their own: "You're Making Me Nervous," "Two Heads Are Better Than One," "Leap of Faith" and the title track, "Lucky in Love."

Toilet Fire: Rectums in the Rectory is Eliza Bent's ceremony and celebration of the one thing that unites us all: our need to go. Using the structure of an ancient religious ritual to talk about matters of digestion, philosophy, and faith, Toilet Fire written and performed by Bent, with direction by Kevin Laibson and music accompaniment by Alaina Ferris, explodes with song, story, audience participation, and unexpected textual twists.
