Elisa Monte Dance to Premiere Three Shows in Three Days, 5/15-17

Elisa Monte Dance, an emotionally charged and highly acclaimed dance company that champions individuality, will celebrate its 33rd season with three world premieres in three days from May 15-17 at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Artistic Director, Elisa Monte, will add to her collection of more than 50 works with the world premiere of Lonely Planet, the fourth and final movement in a succession of works that began in 2011. Additionally, Associate Artistic Director Tiffany Rea-Fisher will present Persona Umbra in its New York premiere and long time EMD principal dancer and choreographer Joe Celej will premiere their roots rest in infinity. The company will also restage Elisa Monte's 1987 Audentity.

Princeton Ballet School Presents its 2014 Spring Production, THE SLEEPING BEAUTY, 5/17

On May 17, 2014, Princeton Ballet School will present its 2014 annual spring production, The Sleeping Beauty, at the Patriots Theater at the War Memorial in Trenton at 2:00pm and 7:00pm. Over 300 students will dance in this production.

Juilliard Dance, under the direction of Lawrence Rhodes, opens its 2014-15 season in December 2014 with New Dances: Edition 2014 featuring four world premiere dances by innovative choreographers, Juilliard alumnus Austin McCormick (1st-Year Dancers); alumna Loni Landon (2nd-Year Dancers); Kate Weare (3rd-Year Dancers); and Larry Keigwin (4th-Year Dancers). Mr. Keigwin is returning to Juilliard where he already choreographed and premiered, in December 2008, Runaway, a large-scale piece that riffs on the high fashion runway scene, and in December 2009, Megalopolis.

The Music Center Honors Southern California's Leading Teen Artists at 26th ANNUAL SPOTLIGHT AWARDS SHOW

The Music Center celebrated 12 teen performing artists and four teen visual artists at The Music Center's 26th Annual Spotlight Awards during a finale performance on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Hosted by Oscar-nominated actor, musician and author, John Lithgow, the awards show culminated The Music Center's year-long free recognition and scholarship program for Southern California high school performing and visual artists. A first place and runner-up were named in each of eight categories, including ballet, non-classical dance, classical voice, non-classical voice, classical instrumental, jazz instrumental, two-dimensional art (works of art with height and weight, but no depth, using drawing, painting, computer generated or mixed media) and photography (black/white, color and digital). This year's top performing and visual artists were awarded more than $100,000 in cash scholarships with $5,000 for students selected as first place finalists and $4,000 for runners-up in each category; five honorable mentions in each category received $250.

DanceWorks Chicago (DWC), under the direction of Andreas Bottcher and Julie Nakagawa, will return to the Harris Theater for Music and Dance on Wednesday, May 7 at 5:30PM for the third Eat + Drink to the Beat of the Theater's 2013-2014 season. The Harris Theater launched the inaugural Eat + Drink to the Beat performance with a program by DanceWorks Chicago this past January. The award-winning dance ensemble will once again present new works of the company repertoire, including aman, choreographed by Ruth Page Award winner Harrison McEldowney and aerial dance specialist Jeremy Plummer, and the Chicago premiere of self-portrait of a woman by Stuttgart Ballet Resident Choreographer Demis Volpi. Patrons will have the opportunity to enjoy cocktails specially created for the evening, and food from some of Chicago's most popular food trucks.
