On Friday, January 23 and Saturday, January 24 (8 pm) in the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre at Symphony Space, director Benh Zeitlin's acclaimed film Beasts of the Southern Wild will be screened with live accompaniment by the Wordless Music Orchestra and the Lost Bayou Ramblers under Ryan McAdams. The soundtrack was composed by Zeitlin with Dan Romer; it will be performed to a music-less print of the film created especially for this project. Tickets are priced depending on location in the house: $65 ($55 for members), $47 ($40 members), $35 ($30 members), and $25 for those under 30, available atwww.symphonyspace.org. (more...)

From December 1986 to September 1988, Jason Alexander, the actor best known for his role as George Costanza for nine seasons on the television series Seinfeld, played older brother Stanley in the original Gene Saks production of BROADWAY BOUND on Broadway. It's a play that he loves dearly, calling it Neil Simon's strongest dramedy, and he has directed the marvelous production on the intimate Odyssey stage through September 21, effectively seating the audience in the living room of the Jerome home. Symphony Space's annual Spring Festival has become one of the season's most keenly awaited events. This year's installment, Sleeping Around: The Cultural Lives of New York's Hotels, may be the most provocative yet. Running from April 26 to May 21, the monthlong festival celebrates New York's landmark hotels, their occupants, and the lengendary boites that nurtured and sustained the evergreen songs and performers of cabaret. Sleeping Around also credits New York's hotels as incubators for film, classical music, and literature, with programs devoted to Andy Warhol, Virgil Thomson, and Dorothy Parker. (more...)

Guitar, Guitar, Guitar brings together eight leading guitarists - two soloists, a duo, and a quartet - to play music by Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Ingram Marshall, and guitarist David Leisner, tonight, March 27 (7:30 pm).
