Lane Marsh Named Director Of Operations For Broadway's GM Foresight Theatrical

Foresight Theatrical, a leading Broadway general management company, under the supervision of partners Allan Williams, Aaron Lustbader and Mark Shacket, has named Lane Marsh as Director of Operations.  Marsh, also a general manager at FST, has been with the company since its formation in 2012.   The FST partners also announced that Nick Ginsberg and Jalaina Ross have been promoted to general managers. 

David Risley, Revolutionary Broadway Tech Marketer, Passes Away at Age 53

Broadway has lost a marketing genius. David Risley, age 53, passed away on February 2nd, 2021.  Risley had been working in the Internet arena for over twenty years developing websites and on-line marketing strategies for hundreds of theatrical projects.

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that longtime general manager of Broadway, Alan Wasser passed away yesterday, April 14. Wasser was the recipient of a Special Tony Awards Honor in 2017 and general manager of the Tony Awards from 2009 to 2012.

Right Angle Entertainment Announces Jim Lanahan As Vice President

Right Angle Entertainment announced today the hiring of Jim Lanahan as Vice President. He will be based in the Los Angeles offices handling touring show general management, marketing and operations for the company. He joins Right Angle Entertainment with a long history of working with Broadway and the road's biggest producers and productions including Disney Theatrical Productions, Really Useful Group and Blue Man Productions. Additionally, John Poland and Elissa E. Szieff have joined the executive team as Director of Touring, and Chief Financial Officer, respectively. Poland will be in charge of tour coordination and Szieff will handle all company business management and accounting. Carla Marie Rugg continues on as Associate Producer, and Cliff Kellas remains in his role as General Manager.

Injured SPIDER-MAN Actor Daniel Curry Suing Show's Producers

SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK might have closed on Broadway, but its drama continues. The New York Times reports that Daniel Curry, who was injured in August while performing in the musical, filed a lawsuit this week against the show's producers, engineering consultants and others, pointing to the "negligence in the design and operation of a mechanical lift that Mr. Curry was using onstage when he was hurt."

65th Annual Tony Awards Broadcast Honored with Fourth Emmy Award

The June 2012 broadcast of the 65th Annual Tony Awards was honored last night with a fourth Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special. The award was accepted by Glenn Weiss, who had previously won an Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program in 2003 for the 56th Annual Tony Awards. The 2012 Tony Awards Telecast was also honored with three Emmy Awards, which were presented at the Creative Arts Emmy ceremony last week.

The Tony Awards® Administration Committee has announced this year's recipient for the Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre. This year's award will be presented to producer Emanuel "Manny" Azenberg. The Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre will be presented at the 2012 Tony Awards on Sunday, June 10th. Glenn Weiss and the directing team of the 65th Annual Tony Awards, have been honored with a Directors Guild award in the category of Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Musical Variety. This is Mr. Weiss' eighth DGA nomination and third win. He won the Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Musical Variety in 2010 for the 64th Annual Tony Awards and in 2007 for The 61st Annual Tony Awards; and was previously nominated in this category in, 2008, 2006, 2005, 2002 and 2001 for the 62nd, 60th, 59th, 56th and 55th Annual Tony Awards.

Bret Michaels' Tony Lawsuit Moves to New York

As previously reported by BroadwayWorld, rocker and former Poison frontman Bret Michaels has filed a lawsuit agains the Tony Awards, stating that a near-fatal brain hemorrhage that he suffered is related to the injuries he received at the 2009 ceremony. The suit was filed on March 25th in Los Angeles, against Tony Awards Productions, White Cherry Entertainment, Inc, Richard Kirshner, Glen Weiss, Alan Wasser Associates LLC, Alan Wasser, Allan Williams and CBS Entertainment.
