From today, July 11 to 13 at New York Live Arts, Modern American Dance Company (MADCO) from St. Louis, MO will perform 'MADCO performs MILLS/works,' an evening of dances choreographed by former company member Joseph Mills. Mills performed with MADCO from 1981-1987. Subsequently, he was a member of MOMIX and The ERick Hawkins Dance Company and has performed and choreographed independently since 1990. Since 2000, he has frequently returned to St. Louis to create works for MADCO. In this program, MADCO will offer three of his works, one being a world premiere, and an audience favorite danced by Mr. Mills that was choreographed by Alan Boeding. (more...)

JULIAN PO with Chad Kimball Extends at NYMF Through 7/10

The New York Musical Theatre Festival and Retrop Productions have announced that JULIAN PO, the new musical with book and lyrics by Andrew Barrett and music by Ira Antelis, is the first show in the festival to be extended. Due to high demand for tickets, the five-performance run - scheduled between July 8 and 14, 2013 - now has an additional show added on Wednesday, July 10 at 5:00 PM. In addition, Sean Cullen ('Boardwalk Empire') and Issadora Tulalian (How the Grinch Stole Christmas at the Old Globe) have been added to the cast. (more...)

Chad Kimball to Star in Retrop Productions' JULIAN PO at NYMF, 7/8-14

The New York Musical Theatre Festival and Retrop Productions will present JULIAN PO, a new musical with book and lyrics by Andrew Barrett and music by Ira Antelis, from July 8 to 14, 2013. JULIAN PO, which mixes comedy and drama, opens in New York after a critically-acclaimed, sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it was nominated for "Best Book of a Musical." JULIAN PO, based on the book La mort de monsieur Golouja by Branimir Š?epanovi? and the screenplay "Julian Po" by Alan Wade, features elements of pop, rock, country, bluegrass and gospel. JULIAN PO is an official selection of The New York Musical Theatre Festival's "2013 Next Link Project." The show is directed by Kirsten Sanderson with music direction by Mark Hartman. (more...)
