Writers Theatre opens its 8th annual tour of The MLK Project: The Fight for Civil Rights, written by Yolanda Androzzo, directed by Jimmy McDermott and featuring Caren Blackmore. A special Martin Luther King, Jr. Day public performance will take place at 10am on January 20 at the Chicago History Museum, 1601 N Clark Street in Chicago. (more...)

The Cleveland Orchestra, conducted by Chelsea Tipton, will perform its 34th annual concert in celebration of the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. The concert will feature the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Chorus (a 165-member volunteer chorus from the greater Cleveland community), prepared by William Henry Caldwell, and Sphinx Competition prizewinner Lev Mamuya as cello soloist. Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma will open its much anticipated 2014 Season with the classic Neil Simon comedy THE ODD COUPLE, running Jan. 29 through Feb. 15 at the Plaza Theatre. The lead roles of Felix Ungar and Oscar Madison will be played by Texas-based actor Martin Burke and local favorite Jonathan Beck Reed.
