The critically acclaimed The Lehman Trilogy opens March 6, 2022, at the Ahmanson after its successful runs on Broadway and the West End. I had the opportunity to speak with The Lehman Trilogy’s composer/sound designer Nick Powell just before going into dress rehearsal.

The Old Vic has today announced further casting and the creative team for the world premiere production of Mike Bartlett's viciously funny The 47th, directed by Rupert Goold and co-produced with Sonia Friedman Productions and Annapurna Theatre.

A brand new trailer has been released today for The Shark is Broken.   As previously announced the critically acclaimed production has extended its run at the Ambassadors Theatre, due to popular demand, until 13 February 2022.

New production images have been released today for The Shark is Broken now running at the Ambassadors Theatre in the West End.   Co-written by Robert Shaw’s son Ian Shaw and Joseph Nixon, this brilliantly funny play, directed by Guy Masterson, reveals the hilarious and moving behind-the-scenes drama on Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster movie JAWS.

A new image and video has been released today for The Shark is Broken which opens at the Ambassadors Theatre from 9 October 2021.  

As previously announced, Ian Shaw (War Horse and Common, National Theatre) will star as his father Robert Shaw. He will be joined by Liam Murray Scott as Richard Dreyfuss (reprising the role he performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2019), and Demetri Goritsas (ear for eye, Royal Court; Black Mirror, Netflix) as Roy Scheider. 

Tom Stoppard’s Leopoldstadt, directed by Patrick Marber, has returned to Wyndham’s Theatre for a 12-week run from 7 August – 30 October 2021. 

The cast includes Cara Ballingall (Jana), Arty Froushan (Leo) Aidan McArdle (Hermann) and Macy Nyman (Hermine), alongside Sebastian Armesto (Jacob/Nathan/Ludwig), Jenna Augen (Rosa), Rhys Bailey (Young Nathan), Faye Castelow (Gretl), Joe Coen (Policeman/Zac), Felicity Davidson (Hilde), Mark Edel-Hunt (Civilian/Fritz), Clara Francis (Wilma), and more!

Opening in the company's new smaller studio space, The Mixing Room, is the world première of Brian & Roger – A Highly Offensive Play inspired by their hit podcast Brian & Roger, written and performed by Harry Peacock and Dan Skinner. Artistic Director of the Menier David Babani directs the production opening in October.

Next up in the National Theatre at Home series of broadcasts we find a gem of a play coming straight from their archives, Lorraine Hansberry's staggeringly topical Les Blancs. Originally staged in 2016 by director Yaël Farber, it was posthumously completed by Hansberry's former husband Robert Nemiroff for a Broadway run, and then reworked by dramaturge Drew Lichtenberg, Joi Gresham (director of the Lorraine Hansberry Literary Trust), and Farber herself for the production at the National after consulting Hansberry's journals and notes.

James Graham is set to adapt his play Ink into a feature film, according to Deadline.

Tom Stoppard's latest - and possibly final - play has few of the dramatic hallmarks you might expect from him: the dazzling linguistic flourishes, the formal trickery, the knotty metaphors and giddy metatheatricality. Instead, we have a relatively straightforward, linear piece, initially overburdened by information, but with an immense accumulative power that leaves audiences awed and tearful.
