American Composers Orchestra Announces 2012-13 Concert Season at Carnegie, Digital Album and More

American Composers Orchestra's (ACO) 2012-13 concert season is a banner year for the orchestra, marked by unprecedented opportunities for composers through three initiatives that illustrate ACO's role as a catalyst for the creation of new orchestral music: CoLABoratory: Playing It UNsafe, ACO's groundbreaking composition and performance laboratory; the 22nd annual Underwood New Music Readings, one of the country's most sought-after programs for emerging composers (DiMenna Center, May 30-31, 2013); and the nationwide expansion of the Jazz Composers Orchestra Institute Readings in partnership with The Center for Jazz Studies at Columbia University and The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music (DiMenna Center, June 1-2, 2013).

The second annual 'Night of A Thousand Judys' - the Pride concert to benefit The Ali Forney Center - will take place at Playwrights Horizons on Monday, June 18. The show is a special presentation of the variety show The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre.

Gotham Arts Exchange Presents Gotham Dance Festival, Now thru 6/10

Young People's Chorus of NYC Presents SPRING CELEBRATION: A FAMILY CONCERT, 6/9

For the first time the Young People's Chorus of New York City, under its Artistic Director/Founder Francisco J. Núñez, is scheduling two performances of its perennially sold-out, annual 'Spring Celebration: A Family Concert,' which takes place this year on Saturday, June 9 at the 92nd Street Y. The concerts will be presented at 3:30 p.m. in the afternoon and again at 7 p.m. in the evening.

Violinist and artistic director Gil Morgenstern's acclaimed Reflections Series celebrates five years of innovative programming in its intimate home at WMP Concert Hall (31 East 28th Street, NYC), described by New York Magazine as, "a miniature version of a European aristocrat's music room." Due to the success of the series, most programs will now have two performances. Season tickets are now available. Those who purchase by June 30 will be invited to a VIP Opening Night Party on September 12.

Feinstein's at Loews Regency continues its Spring 2012 season with the debut of multi-award winning singer Jennifer Sheehan in her new show "I Know A Place." Sheehan and her trio traverse the vast spectrum of music that was the sensational soundtrack of the '60s. Plus, she shares how younger generations are falling in love with these classic songs just as their parents did. Brimming with songs and stories, "I Know A Place" features music by songwriters such as Burt Bacharach, The Beatles and Antonio Carlos Jobim and songs made famous by Barbra Streisand, Petula Clark, Carole King and more. The show opened last night, May 23 and runs from May 23 through June 2 at the Loews Regency Hotel. Check out photos of the concert below!

I saw the program. It was inspiring and uplifting. The cohesive choreography included "Arden Court," "Home," "Journey" and "Revelations." The dancers performed with a controlled strength, gliding, leaping and soaring.
