Rebecca Lazier's COMING TOGETHER/ATTICA Debuts at The Invisible Dog Tonight

Tonight, Thursday, June 13 (7 + 9 pm) at The Invisible Dog in Brooklyn, choreographer Rebecca Lazier and indie-classical ensemble Newspeak present the first US performances of Coming Together/Attica, a site-specific setting of Frederic Rzewski's iconic minimalist scores written following the 1971 prison riots in upstate New York. Lazier's dancers are Rashaun Mitchell and Silas Riener (formerly of Merce Cunningham Dance Company); Asli Bulbul, most recently from Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company; Jennifer Lafferty, who is featured in the work of Beth Gill and Yasuko Yokoshi; Pierre Guilbault; and Christopher Ralph.

Continuing its Transmusica series of concerts of cross-cultural and transformative music designed to build bridges to other world cultures and communities, the Young People's Chorus of New York City and its artistic director/founder Francisco J. Nuñez will be joined by the Young Voices of Melbourne (Australia) at the 92nd Street Y Sunday afternoon, June 30, at 4 p.m., the first stop on the Australian choir's six-city tour of America. The joint performance will blend and highlight the music of Australia, America, and other countries in an exciting intermingling of voices and world cultures.

The Trio will be performing their program, The Smiling Piano: A Tribute To The Artistry Of Jazz Piano Icon George Shearing.

92nd Street Y announces the 2014 line-up for Lyrics & Lyricists, with Deborah Grace Winer in her sixth season as series artistic director. To offer their unique perspectives on the American Songbook, L&L guest artistic directors this year feature three Tony Award winners-a director (Kathleen Marshall, in her L&L debut), music director (Ted Sperling) and lyricist (David Zippel)--a top musical theater historian (Robert Kimball), and Broadway royalty (Ted Chapin of The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization).

Entering its fifth season in 2013-14, CONTACT!, the New York Philharmonic's new-music series, is extending its reach by presenting more concerts in new venues including SubCulture - a new arts venue in downtown Manhattan - in partnership with 92nd Street Y, and The Museum of Modern Art. The upcoming season of CONTACT! will feature four concert programs, an expansion over previous seasons. Dedicated to the works of emerging and iconic contemporary composers, CONTACT! in the 2013-14 season will feature works for ensembles of New York Philharmonic musicians as well as programs of solo works performed by Philharmonic musicians and distinguished guests.

Alison Chase, known for founding the movement collective Pilobolus, bravely presented her creative process before an audience at the 92nd Street Y. In 2008, Alison Chase founded Alison Chase Performance, a platform to explore interdisciplinary work utilizing film, photography, live music and museum installations.
