Theatre UCF presents the second annual Pegasus PlayLab, a festival dedicated to developing plays by emerging playwrights. Audiences can hear three staged readings, watch a full developmental production and participate in discussions with the playwrights, casts and directors throughout June.
Compagnia de' Colombari, an international collective of performing artists founded and directed by Karin Coonrod, presents More Or Less I Am: a music-theater piece drawn entirely from Walt Whitman's revolutionary free verse long poem, 'Song of Myself,'one of the original twelve pieces that comprise his 1855 collection Leaves of Grass. The next performance in this series, spanning multiple venues throughout the five boroughs, will take place on Sunday, May 26, 2019, 7:30 pm at Fort Greene Park, Brooklyn.

Theatre UCF presents Bernarda Alba, a production that finds five idealistic and rebellious young women trapped within the walls of their own home by the rules of their widowed mother. Set in the south of Spain, this musical adaptation of Federico Garcia Lorca's 1936 play The House of Bernarda, explores the vivid passion for life associated with the Spanish culture. Bernarda Alba will open on Thursday, March 22 and run through Saturday, March 31 in the Theatre UCF Main Stage.
Theatre UCF presents Pentecost, a production that finds religious, political and scholarly individuals going head-to-head for claim of a newly discovered fresco on a nondescript church ceiling in Eastern Europe. The various groups battle over the validity and possible historical significance of the fresco until twelve refugees storm the church and hold it hostage for asylum. The explosive drama touches on the value of cultural diversity in topical ways. Pentecost will open on Thursday, January 25 and run through Sunday, February 4 in the Theatre UCF Main Stage.
Theatre UCF is replacing the previously scheduled play The Day Before Yesterday with Rebecca Gilman's Boy Gets Girl to run Feb. 22-March 4. The decision to change the play was made after the writer of The Day Before Yesterday, Israel Horovitz, was accused by nine women of sexual misconduct. Horovitz had been scheduled to attend UCF's performance.
