Honoring History: Repertory Dance Theatre Closes 55th Season With A Digital HOMAGE


Celebrating 55 years of revolutionary modern dance, America's premiere modern dance repertory company presents a virtual evening of historical modern dance masterpieces. Battery Dance Announces $1 Virtual Workshops


Battery Dance announces $1 virtual classes, continuing the tradition of offering 'free' workshops as part of the Battery Dance Festival. There will be nine diverse workshops taught by choreographers from around the world over Zoom. The hour-long classes will run August 14-22, 2020, beginning at 10am EDT each day. Las Fridas Returns to Mark DeGarmo Dance Studio Theater at the Clemente Center


Las Fridas returns for a limited New York engagement in January 2020 after its November 2019 run sold out 5 performances. The 60-minute duet is inspired by the life and work of Mexican painter and revolutionary, Frida Kahlo. Shen Wei To Receive 2020 Scripps ADF Award


The American Dance Festival (ADF) will present the 2020 Samuel H. Scripps/American Dance Festival Award for lifetime achievement to acclaimed choreographer Shen Wei. Established in 1981 by Samuel H. Scripps, the annual award honors choreographers who have dedicated their lives and talent to the creation of modern dance. Shen Wei will be in residence at ADF during the 2020 season working on his latest ADF commission set on ADF students. ADF Director Emeritus Charles L. Reinhart will present the $50,000 award in a brief ceremony on Thursday, July 23rd at 8:00pm, prior to the Footprints performance in Reynolds Industries Theater.

Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF), the independent, not-for-profit affiliate of SDC, Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, today announced unique plans for its 2019 award evening, which will feature original choreographic pieces resulting from a special commissioning program, with the application period now open. SDCF also announced that Victoria Traube would receive a special 'Mr. Abbott' Award at the event, to be held March 25 at the French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF).

Sandra Kaufmann Guests with Kanopy Dance, Performing 'La Bonne Dame' by Deborah Zall


Sandra Kaufmann, former soloist with the Martha Graham Dance Company will guest with Kanopy Dance in their concert entitled 'Dark Tales', a program of thought-provoking dance that ranges in styles from classical modern to physical theater, February 9-18 in Madison Wisconsin.   Ms. Kaufmann will appear in her original solo 'A People's Cry', a modern response to violence again women; and modern dance choreographer Deborah Zall's 'La Bonne Dame: Remembering George Sand', (the novelist who adopted a male persona to ply her craft more freely).  Ms. Kaufmann will also teach a master class at the Kanopy Studio on Thursday February 8.
