Full Company Announced for THE SOUND OF MUSIC at Chichester Festival Theatre

The full company has been announced for Adam Penford’s new production of The Sound of Music, running at Chichester Festival Theatre from 10 July – 3 September

Pegasus Opera Presents RUTH and THE DARK LADY OF THE SONNETS

Pegasus Opera Company presents an opera double bill showcasing women in lead roles, Ruth and The Dark Lady of the Sonnets. There will be four performances starting Wednesday 28 February Friday 2 March, 7.30pm and Sunday 4 March, 2.30pm at the Actors Church (St Paul's), Covent Garden, Bedford Street, London WC2E 9ED.

Jason Manford to Make West-End Debut as Pirelli in SWEENY TODD, 2 �" 27 July - 'Anything can happen!'

Stephen Sondheim's musical masterpiece, Sweeney Todd, stars Olivier Award winner Michael Ball as the infamous demon barber of Fleet Street and Oscar-nominated actress Imelda Staunton as his devoted accomplice Mrs. Lovett. Following sell-out success at Chichester Festival Theatre, the production transferred to London's West End on 10 March, 2012 for a limited season only, and must end on 22 September, 2012. Comedian Jason Manford will join the company as "Italian" barber Pirelli for four weeks in July this year, covering for Robert Burt, who is scheduled to sing at Glyndebourne Festival 2012.

Sondheim Grants Approval for Michael Ball & Imelda Staunton Led SWEENEY TODD for Broadway

Now, Baz Bamigboye of the UK Daily Mail has revealed that 'Stephen Sondheim has given director Jonathan Kent's Chichester Festival Theatre production of Sweeney Todd (with Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton delivering the stage performances of their lives) his seal of approval. He'd love the two stars to take the deliciously grisly musical to Broadway when they complete their run at the Adelphi Theatre. There's no official word this will happen yet, because both actors have crazy schedules, but it would be fantastic if they did manage to cross the Atlantic with this Sweeney.'

Comedian Jason Manford to Join UK SWEENEY TODD As Pirelli for One Month

British comedian Jason Manford is to play Signor Pirelli in Jonathan Kent's West-End production of SWEENY TODD. Actor Michael Ball, who stars as Todd in the show, revealed on the Jonathan Ross Show on Saturday evening that Jason Manford will be taking the role while Robert Burt, who is currently playing the part, is on leave.
