Fifteen theater companies were selected to perform in the 2024 San Francisco Fringe Festival.  EXIT Theatre will produce the 33rd annual SF Fringe Fest from August 8th through August 24, 2024. 

While discussing the salary inequality that Black women face in the entertainment industry, Taraji P. Henson said she 'almost had to walk away' from The Color Purple after not seeing a raise in her income since 2018. She cites Fantasia Barrino, Danielle Brooks, Halle Bailey, and Phylicia Pearl Mpasi as people she wants to set an example for.

For many years, Miss Saigon was celebrated as a masterful work of musical theater. However, it has faced its fair share of criticism for its alleged 'political incorrectness' issues since its revival in the West End and on Broadway a few years ago. Terms like 'problematic' and 'racially stereotypical' have been used to describe it. I respectfully disagree with these criticisms, even though it is crucial the material must be presented culturally authentic, in which this production succeeds where others have failed. It remains a tragic story that has become even more relevant now, given the ongoing horrors of the Ukraine war and numerous heartbreaking situations of refugees in hazardous boats, often left unaided by political bureaucracy, resulting in tragic drownings.

The 17-track collection features all the hits and hidden treasures from throughout Everclear’s extraordinary catalog as well as two bonus studio tracks, last year’s single “Year Of The Tiger” and new single “Sing Away.” The first offering from the forthcoming album is the 1995 hit “Heroin Girl,” off their platinum-selling album Sparkle and Fade.

The summer institution's season opener effortlessly blends the two genres the venue is most famous for.

The Community Foundation of Sarasota County recently granted $15,000, from the Martha Leiter and Nancy Streetman Fund II, to Choral Artists of Sarasota to help fund its March 2023 concert of “The Children's March,” a dramatic work that uses song and narration to tell the story of a pivotal moment in the Civil Rights era.

Choral Artists of Sarasota's 44th season, entitled “United in Song,” continues with “Peace on Earth,” Sunday, December 11, 7 p.m., at Church of the Redeemer, 222 S. Palm Avenue, Sarasota.

'Turn Off This Song (Before It Takes Your Soul)' opens with a groovy bassline with fuzzy vocals that meld into powerful, dark societal commentary, critiquing everything from capitalism, to the distrust of media, to the hyper-surveilled, hyper-policed place the U.S. has become. The accompanying music video was directed by Madison McConnell.

San Diego-based Siena Marilyn Ledger's National New Play Network rolling world premiere Man and Moon runs October 19-November 13, 2022, at Madison Street Theater.

Uma Noite na Broadway is a very funny musical comedy, directed by Fernanda Chamma, and starring Fabi Bang and Thiago Machado, that brings together hits from some of the great Broadway musicals successfully produced in Brazil. The play tells the story of two Brazilian artists at different times in their careers trying to win on The Great White Way.

In season two of 'Secrets of Sulphur Springs,' Griffin and Harper unravel new mysteries about The Tremont, and Harper follows the real ghost back to the 1930s to learn more about her family's deep-seated connection to the hotel. The series stars Preston Oliver, Kyliegh Curran, Elle Graham, Kelly Frye, Diandra Lyle, Madeleine McGraw, and more.

Latino Theater Company presents RE:Encuentro 2021, a virtual, national Latinx theater festival featuring 16 companies and performers from across the U.S. in digital residence at The Los Angeles Theatre Center.

For their 38th season at Undermain they are creating an exciting array of diverse performance opportunities to inspire and enrich our community and support artists in North Texas. They hope to be able to offer live performances in addition to the virtual streaming videos for each production. 

Choral Artists of Sarasota’s 43rd season, entitled “Carried Away!” features six concerts in November, December, February, March, April, and July. “Carried Away!” is designed to transport audiences through the powerful medium of choral music, created in response to the return of live and in-person musical experiences in Sarasota.

In a dynamic debut of online content, Theater Alliance kicks off the theater season with Strategize, Organize, Mobilize: A Protest in Eight. This evening of eight short plays, newly commissioned from emerging playwrights, explores the requests of the Black Lives Matter movement — from banning stop and frisk to considering reparations, and more.  

The Alliance For Jewish Theatre announces the performance lineup for its 2020 Annual Conference, being held online From Sunday, October 25th through Tuesday, October 27th.

Sunday, Grammy nominated bluegrass musician Joe Troop  joined protesters outside Postmaster General Louis Dejoy's Greensboro, NC. home with his banjo and played his song titled 'A Plea to the US Government to Fully Fund the Postal Service.' 

Dieter Wiesner, Michael Jackson's former manager and friend, had many voice recordings from the pop icon, and sought a way to share them with others. He wanted people to know the real Michael Jackson. When he met Yusuf Jah, a published author, he was inspired to write a book where Jackson actually 'told his own story.'

In the first single Iceberg featuring Petr Cech to be taken from his forthcoming album London Country, Ian Wills sings “I've never looked for perfection, Cos I know that I'm deeply flawed.”
