Pass the time with some free-to-stream programming and resources available from WNET for audiences of all ages.
Notwithstanding the lingering leeriness I feel about going to see them, one-person shows can be memorable and truly special. Billy Crystal's 700 Sundays, Frank Gorshin's Say Goodnight, Gracie and Colin Quinn's Long Story Short stand out as the best that I've seen by men, while I'd point to Julie Harris's Belle of Amherst, Lily Tomlin's The Search for Intelligent Life in the Universe, and Tova Feldshuh's Golda's Balcony as the best by women - plus two more at Spoleto this year, Avital Lvova's Angel and Ayodele Casel's While I Have the Floor.
In a few weeks Tovah Feldshuh will be attempting to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Last night she took her inspired performance at 54 Below to new heights.
At Birdland every Monday night at 9:30pm, Jim Caruso's Cast Party celebrates talent from every corner of the entertainment scene. Broadway, jazz, cabaret, pop, folk, country…over the past twelve years, the Cast Party crowds have been entertained by most every genre of music! This past week, the talent was off-the-charts. Rachel Tucker, the recent star of The Last Ship on Broadway, gained a slew of new fans with two Kander & Ebb anthems that had the crowd standing, stomping and cheering for more!
Just last night, Tovah Feldshuh hosted the Theatre Development Fund's (TDF) 2014 Gala, which celebrated the 35th season of TDF's Accessibility Programs (TAP). TAP are TDF's services for people with physical disabilities, as well as individuals on the autism spectrum. BroadwayWorld was there for the special night and you can check out photos from the celebration below!
