Studio by Storyhouse, has transformed the former Boots store in the Forum shopping centre into a multi-purpose space for creative activities and rehearsals.

Recently, we had the chance to speak with Paul Hart and Claire Murray, the joint CEOs of the theatre. We discussed what it is like working for a regional theatre, the process of producing new work and how the Arts Council England funding cut will affect the future of The Watermill and the local community surrounding it.

Tara Theatre has announced the appointment of Natasha Kathi-Chandra as the new Artistic Director of the South Asian theatre company. Kathi-Chandra takes on the role from Abdul Shayek, who was the Artistic Director of Tara Theatre, until his death in August 2023.

On Friday, April 28 Duluth Playhouse Youth Theatre will open TUCK EVERLASTING TYA at the NorShor Theatre. Based on Natalie Babbitt’s best-selling children’s classic, this Theatre for Young Audiences edition of TUCK EVERLASTING is a condensed version of the Broadway musical. Duluth Playhouse Youth Theatre is a celebration of young artists ages 8 - 18 collaborating and connecting through the power of live theatre. In this production, young performers are given the opportunity to showcase their talents and theatrical skills on the historic NorShor Theatre stage.

Following last season's success with A Monster Calls, The Watermill's Youth Ensemble take the stage with another thrilling production. Since its post-pandemic launch, the Youth Ensemble has established itself as an integral part of The Watermill's programming. Participants of any of The Watermill's regular Outreach groups are eligible to join the Youth Ensemble productions, offering the opportunity to create a full-scale production on the venue's professional stage.

Circuit Playhouse, Inc. will offer a selection of courses taught by local professional theatre artists this spring. Under the direction of new Director of Theatre Education, Ty Lenderman, class offerings will range from acting, musical theatre singing and dancing technique, and technical theatre for Youth Theatre School (class offerings for students 5 to 17 years of age).
