Tonight, nonprofit disability services provider and disability inclusion resource Easterseals Southern California hosted the 2021 Easterseals Disability Film Challenge  Awards Ceremony powered by Microsoft Teams, honoring the best of this year's record-breaking applicants to the second “Home Edition” of the annual event. 

A new series of PSAs is breaking ground on ensuring philanthropists are inclusive of people with disabilities. Representing a diverse group of people with disabilities, the stars speak directly to the camera in their own words.

For the first musical of its 51st season, the Costa Mesa Playhouse presents 'Nine,' based on auteur Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini's Oscar-winning, semi-autobiographical masterpiece, '8½.' With music and lyrics by Maury Yeston ('Titanic') and a book by acclaimed playwright Arthur Kopit ('Oh Dad, Poor Dad, Mamma's Hung You in the Closet and I'm Feelin' So Sad'), this sultry and enchanting musical follows the life of world famous director Guido Contini as he prepares his latest picture and balances the numerous women in his life. Drifting toward a nervous breakdown, Contini falls into nostalgic reverie, eventually focusing on the formative sexual encounter of his life, which occurred at the age of nine.

The Phoenix burns itself to ashes on an ancient funeral pyre, only to rise again from those ashes with the renewed exuberance of youth. Its renewed life cycle symbolizes the immortality of the spirit, the rebirth of idealism, the essence of creativity, and the aura of eternal hope. With her new show at the Laurie Beechman, Visible Phoenix (which opened October 17 and returned last Friday night), multi-award winner Carolyn Montgomery-Forant has returned to the cabaret stage (after a 14-year hiatus to raise her son and run a cafe business) as the very personification of that rare beautiful bird.

One night a year spirits dead n' gone rise up to walk the earth trying to find their way home. These wandering spirits are lost in limbo as penance for something they've left undone in life, unless they can find a sympathetic ear to life the burden. But don't be fooled, they're not innocent and havoc will arise when jealous lovers, ambitions ingenues and drunk has-beens clash, threatening to recreate the turmoil of their lives and keep them locked in limbo eternally. Ushered into the land of the living by Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau, these celebrity ghosts are given one last chance to heal their 'past life issues' or remain in limbo forever.
