The Azrieli Music Project (AMP) is proud to announce that Brian Current is the winner of the inaugural Azrieli Commissioning Competition, a $50,000 prize for a new work of orchestral Jewish Music of 15 to 25 minutes duration, by a Canadian composer.

The Azrieli Music Project (AMP) is proud to announce that composer Wlad Marhulets is the winner of the inaugural Azrieli Prize in Jewish Music for his Klezmer Clarinet Concerto. Marhulets, who submitted a completed orchestral work on a Jewish theme or subject – along with applicants from around the world – has been granted the second of two $50,000 prizes, which were offered for the first time by the Azrieli Foundation. 

The New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera debuts Amilcare Ponchielli's magnificent work, LA GIOCONDA, replete with complex plots and intrigue, on Sunday, April 17 at 3:00 p.m. at the Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenPAC), located at 30 North Van Brunt Street, in Englewood, New Jersey.

The Azrieli Music Project (AMP), established to celebrate, foster and create opportunities for the performance of high quality new orchestral music on a Jewish theme or subject, is delighted to launch two important new prizes: The Azrieli Prize in Jewish Music, an international prize for a recently composed or performed work by a living composer; and The Azrieli Commissioning Competition, for a Canadian composer of any age.

The New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera, the only grand opera company in Bergen County, New Jersey, concludes its 25th anniversary season, Vive la France, with Giacomo Puccini's La Boheme. Artistic Director Lucine Amara invites the public to see Puccini's renowned, romantic score on Sundays, October 19 and 26, 3:00 p.m., at the Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenPAC), located at 30 North Van Brunt Street, in Englewood, New Jersey.

Ms. Perez, a graduate of New York's renowned Julliard School is a great admirer of French opera works. Ms. Perez made her operatic debut with the Canadian Opera Company singing the title role of Juliet with Marcello Giordani as Romeo, in Gounod's Romeo and Juliet. Marcello Giordani was be unable to perform in last evening's performance of the Verdi Requiem for New Jersey State Opera due to illness. William Davenport stepped in to sing the tenor role, making his NJ State Opera debut. See below for photos from last night's August 16th performance!
