Rupert Everett BIO

Rupert Everett is a British actor, writer, and director who has had a long and varied career in film, television, and theater. Born in 1959 in Norfolk, England, Everett attended the Central School of Speech and Drama in London before making his stage debut in 1981 in the West End production of "Another Country."
Everett's breakthrough role came in 1984 when he played the lead in the film adaptation of "Another Country," which earned him a BAFTA nomination for Best Actor. He went on to appear in a number of films throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including "Dance with a Stranger," "The Comfort of Strangers," and "My Best Friend's Wedding," in which he played Julia Roberts' gay best friend.
In addition to his film work, Everett has also had a successful career in theater. He has appeared in a number of productions in London's West End, including "The Importance of Being Earnest," "Pygmalion," and "Blithe Spirit." He has also performed on Broadway, making his debut in 2009 in a revival of "Blithe Spirit" opposite Angela Lansbury.
Everett is also a writer and director. He wrote and directed the 1999 film "The Next Best Thing," in which he starred opposite Madonna. He has also written several books, including his autobiography "Red Carpets and Other Banana Skins," which was published in 2006.
In recent years, Everett has continued to work in film and television. He appeared in the 2018 film "The Happy Prince," which he also wrote and directed. The film tells the story of the final years of Oscar Wilde's life, with Everett playing the lead role. He also appeared in the television series "A Very English Scandal," for which he received critical acclaim.
