The San Diego Theatre Critics Circle has announced the nominations for its 2018 Craig Noel Awards. Now in its 17th year, the Craig Noel Awards honor the achievements of professional theaters in San Diego County. The nominees are chosen by a nine-member body of professional critics who write for San Diego newspapers, magazines, online publications and blogs.

San Diego Repertory Theatre and Amigos del REP announced today the lineup for The Second Annual Latinx New Play Festival at the Lyceum Space Theatre, August 3-5, 2018.  Amigos del REP is a theatre advocacy council of community members and artists who promote Hispanic/Latino/Chicano theatre at San Diego REP.  The Latinx New Play Festival is a celebration of engaging, dynamic and enlightening new plays by Latinx playwrights from across the United States.  Submissions were accepted from Latinx playwrights representing an array of genres, styles and experiences highlighted by both emerging and veteran playwrights.

San Diego Repertory Theatre announces the world premiere of Beachtown, the sixth production of its 42nd season.  Beachtown, based on Beertown by dog & pony dc, is the most immersive, interactive production in the history of San Diego Rep.  Written by the Rep's playwright-in-residence, Herbert Siguenza, with the play's associate director, Rachel Grossman, who is also the co-founder of dog & pony dc.  Siguenza, a founding member of Culture Clash, is also known for writing and performing in A Weekend with Pablo Picasso and Manifest Destinitis.

dog & pony dc unveils Peepshow as part of the second annual Women's Voices Theater Festival. It is the company's first fully-produced new show since 2015. Peepshow is a fanciful and absurd pastiche of interactive theatrical forms, created, designed, and performed by an entirely non-male identifying ensemble of artists. Peepshow opens February 7, 2018 and performs through February 25 in the Rehearsal Hall of Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company (641 D Street NW). Theater J, the nation's largest and most prominent Jewish theater, announced today the launch of the Yiddish Theater Lab dedicated to preserving and reviving the forgotten literature of the Yiddish Theater. Through this initiative, Theater J will uncover and re-interpret nearly-forgotten Yiddish classics in new English language readings, workshops, commissions, and eventually productions.

The cutting-edge theater genre 'Participatory Theater' will be the focus of the 2014 Zeitgeist DC International Festival and Symposium. Theater innovators from Germany, Switzerland and Austria will collaborate with Washington, DC actors and directors on audience-interactive performance events and a unique hands-on symposium. The Festival, which takes place at the Goethe-Institut and at Georgetown University today, May 10-12, 2014, will examine integrative techniques, technology design and theory.

With two original productions on tour and one in preparation for its world premiere, dog & pony dc is proud to announce the advancement of Ivania Stack to "Ring Leader." In this position, Ms. Stack will join with the current three d&pdc Ring Leaders, Rachel Grossman, Lorraine Ressegger-Slone and Jon Reynolds in focusing, directing, and propelling the company forward.
