The smash jukebox tribute Scissorhands - A Musical Tribute returns with an all-new, immersive staging opening December 1, 2023, at The Bourbon Room (with previews starting November 24th). This hilarious parody of the 1990 classic film Edward Scissorhands features their unique take on such pop hits as: What Was I Made For, Dream On, Uninvited, Like a Prayer, I'm Every Woman, Shallow, Shake It Out, and Fast Car. Scissorhands’ playwright Bradley Bredeweg directs the vocally gifted cast of: Jordan Kai Burnett, Emma Hunton, Dionne Gipson, Natalie Masini, Ryan O'Connor, Carly Casey and Alex Ellis; with Carson Higgins, alternating with John Krause. Jordan cut some time out of their busy schedule to answer a few of my queries.

The fifth annual class of the National Student Poets Program (NSPP) the nation's highest honor for youth poets has been announced by the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities (PCAH) in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the nonprofit Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. The students were appointed by First Lady Michelle Obama at a ceremony earlier today in the State Dining Room at the White House. As part of an appointment ceremony, each of the students did a reading of an original poem.

Studio has presented another facet, to perhaps, one of the theaters most multifaceted characters.

Anton Chekhov's Three Sisters, co-adapted by Shawn Rene Graham and John-Martin Green is transposed to America in the early 1900s.  Set on a cavalry outpost in rural Texas, this is the tale of a group of cultured, intelligent blacks in turn-of-the-century America observing the kind of entitlement that wealthy whites had always taken for granted, and the price they pay for that entitlement. The reading is on Monday, March 7, 2016 from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM.

DIGITAL TO THE CORE: Remastering Leadership for Your Industry, Your Enterprise, and Yourself by Mark Raskino and Graham Waller (Bibliomotion, October 20, 2015)

Geva Theatre Center's 2015 Fielding Studio Series begins with the world premiere of Katherine's Colored Lieutenant by Nora Cole and is directed by David Schweizer. The production begins performances on February 5 and runs in the Fielding Nextstage through February 22.

Next up on its Main Stage, The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey presents the Bard's epic pageant play Henry VIII. Centered around the tug-of-wars between church and state and husband and wife, the play culminates in the birth of England's future Queen Elizabeth I, Shakespeare's great patron and Henry's fierce and very female heir. Performances begin October 15 at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre, 36 Madison Avenue in Madison. Tickets start at $25 for preview performances and $32 for regular performances. Student rush tickets for all performances are $15, available a half-hour before curtain for with a valid student ID. Puppet School is celebrating the launch of their Seattle branch by holding an Open House at their Inscape Arts studio, tonight, January 31st from 6 to 8pm. In keeping with the spirit of Puppet School Seattle's location and Chinese New Year, the theme of the party is '2014: The Year of the Puppet.'
