BWW Review: Fortune favors the bold in Kate Hamill's PRIDE & PREJUDICE

What can I say about the 4th Wall production of Kate Hamill's PRIDE & PREJUDICE? I dig it.

Photo Flash: 4th Wall Continues Season of Houston Premieres with Kate Hamill's PRIDE & PREJUDICE

Longtime home for cutting-edge live performances, 4th Wall Theatre Company is thrilled to follow the success of September's 'Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train' with another Houston premiere, 'Pride and Prejudice.' Kate Hamill's new adaptation of the novel by Jane Austen reframes the classic inside a modern lens, creating a playful comedy that feels as timely today as it did in Regency-era England. Hamill's lively work ran Off-Broadway last year to critical acclaim and is now receiving its Houston debut, just in time for the holiday season.

BWW Reviews: Black Lab Theatre's TIGERS BE STILL is Refreshingly Funny

Black Lab Theatre's Houston premiere of Kim Rosenstock's TIGERS BE STILL is incredibly funny as it deals with the not so funny theme of depression. We've all had those days. You know which days. The dark days. The days where it seems impossible to get anything done much less get out of bed. Sometimes those days can last for weeks. Even if you do manage to overcome getting out of bed, dysfunction can still follow you around.

BAD JEWS and TIGERS BE STILL Set for Black Lab Theatre's 2015 Season, Beginning Today

Black Lab Theatre's shines an endearing and humorous light on family dysfunction with two regional premiere comedies about the difficulties of familial love in the 21st century. The season opens in January 2015 with Kim Rosenstock's Tigers Be Still and then follows with Joshua Harmon's no-holds-barred comedy Bad Jews to be co-produced by Stages Repertory Theatre and the Jewish Community Center of Houston.

Black Lab artistic director Jordan Jaffe will delight Houston audiences with the city's most dynamic father-son acting combo, pairing the award winning talents of Justin Doran and his son, Ty Doran in an endearing and humorous look at family dysfunction and high school art instruction. Doran, a resident director at Black Lab Theatre and frequent star at Stages Repertory Theatre and the Alley Theatre, will star together with his son Ty in Tigers Be Still with the senior Doran playing Joseph Moore, a high school principal and young Ty his wayward son Zach.
