The Theatre World Awards are presented annually at the end of the theatre season to six actors and six actresses for their significant, reviewable, debut performances in a Broadway or Off-Broadway production. The ceremony is a private, invitation-only event followed by a party to celebrate the new honorees and welcome them to the Theatre World 'family.' In what has become a highly entertaining and often touching tradition, 12 previous winners serve as the presenters, and often relive moments from past ceremonies and share wonderful stories rarely heard at other theatrical awards. An in-store reception was hosted by Paul Stuart and The Wall Street Journal with special guest hosts two-time Grammy Award winner and a two-time Tony Award winner and 2006 American Theater Hall of Fame inductee, Patti Lupone and director and Tony Award-winning lyricist (for Hairspray) Scott Wittman. Entertainment throughout the evening was provided by the legendary Broadway orchestrator (and one of 12 people to have won all four major show business awards referred to as EGOT: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony) Jonathan Tunick and his 'Broadway Moonlighters'. The 28th Annual Bistro Awards gala took place on March 4, 2013. Unlike most other awards shows, the Bistro Awards is an evening filled with great performances from the winners - stars as well as talented newcomers - who represent a wide variety of styles from the worlds of cabaret, comedy, and jazz. AliceGraceAnon The Irondale Center presents AliceGraceAnon- a new play by Kara Lee Corthoron. This show features three oddly connected heroines - a curious girl who falls down a rabbit hole (Alice); the lead singer of an iconic '60s rock band (Grace); the nameless star of a classic druggie diary (Anonymous) - who inhabit three separate worlds, playing out their stories exactly as expected.

The 2012 Bistro Awards took place on Monday, April 23 at 6:30pm at Gotham Comedy Club. The 27th Annual Bistro Awards gala recognized 25 artists and shows for outstanding achievement in New York cabaret and jazz. Canal Park Playhouse presents the world premiere of PERFECT CATCH: A THROWMANTIC COMEDY, created and performed by Michael Karas and Jen Slaw.

New Georges (Susan Bernfield, Artistic Director; Sarah Cameron Sunde, Associate Director; Jaynie Saunders Tiller, Managing Director), the OBIE Award-winning downtown theater company founded in 1992, will present 'THE GERM PROJECT,' featuring the work of playwrights Kara Lee Corthron (directed by Kara-Lynn Vaeni), Lynn Rosen (directed by Shoshana Gold), Kathryn Walat (directed by Portia Krieger), and Anna Ziegler (directed by Beatrice Terry). The four 'germs' of full-length plays of scope and adventure commissioned by New Georges for this project will be presented together, fully produced, in a cohesive and satisfying ninety-minute intermission-less evening. There will be a connective thread to the pieces that will take place with visuals and storytelling. 'THE GERM PROJECT' will be performed at 3LD Art & Technology Center, 80 Greenwich Street (just south of Rector). Previews will begin on June 11, and the official Opening Night will be Monday, June 20 at 8:00 p.m. Performances will run through July 9.

Frog & Peach Theatre Company (now in its seventeenth season), will present William Shakespeare's romantic comedy 'TWELFTH NIGHT,' directed by Lynnea Benson.

The OBIE Award-winning Vampire Cowboys Theatre Company, presents the final week of the world premiere of "THE INEXPLICABLE REDEMPTION OF AGENT G," written by Qui Nguyen and directed by Robert Ross Parker (with fight direction by Nguyen), now through Saturday, April 16 at Incubator Arts Project (incubatorarts.org), St. Mark's Church-in-the-Bowery, 131 East 10th Street (at 2nd Avenue).

Affinity Company Theater and 3-Legged Dog's world premiere production of Sheila Schwartz's "SPY GARBO," directed by Kevin Cunningham, enters its final week of performances.
