On September 23rd, the Oscar-Qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival will once again host a star-studded Opening Night celebration. Attendees of the in-person ceremony will witness short film premieres from Academy Award-winning alumni and Hollywood heavyweights. Kicking off the 17th annual festival will be a special screening from Film Independent and Netflix Film Club.

Mientus will play the role of Larry Stohler. The cast is led by Abubakr Ali as the titular hero Grendel/Hunter Rose. Also in the cast are Brittany Allen, Julian Black Antelope, Kevin Corrigan, Emma Ho, Jaime Ray Newman, Erik Palladino and Madeline Zima.

Last night, The 24 Hour Plays: Viral Monologues released nine all-new pieces to benefit Juxtaposition Arts. The Oscar-Qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival saw a record 6,000 submissions from over 80 countries for their 15th anniversary. The organizers are thrilled to announce that over 400 films from 30 different countries will compete for this year's top prizes during the festival's 10-day run from August 8-17 at TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood. Last year, four HollyShorts finalists were nominated for an Academy Award with three bringing home the gold, including the Best Live Action Short a?oeSkina?? from filmmakers Andrew Carlberg, Guy Nattiv, and Jaime Ray Newman.

HollyShorts' Opening Night festivities will be on Thursday, August 8th at the iconic TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood, CA.

The 2019 Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, today unveiled its feature film lineup. It's the end of the road for anthology drama, WICKED CITY.

In tonight's episode of ABC's new anthology drama WICKED CITY, serial killer Kent looks to take his relationship with single mom Betty to the next level, in more ways than one. Recently, I talked with Ed Westwick (GOSSIP GIRL) and Erika Christensen (PARENTHOOD) about the bizarre love story of these obviously damaged individuals.

Very little can shock American TV viewers anymore. From gore to profanity to nudity, we've more or less seen it all since cable became a leader in high quality, ground-breaking programming. While the standards and practices associated with broadcasting over the public airwaves normally hamstring networks, that doesn't mean that they aren't actively looking to push the limits of TV dramas. Next Tuesday at 10/9c, ABC premieres its new anthology series WICKED CITY, which they have actively advertised as "pushing the boundaries of network TV." The show centers on a sexy, serial killing couple in glamourous 1980's Los Angeles, and like everything else in the decade, the sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll are all done to excess.
