Tim Blake Nelson's powerful and soul-stirring play makes its return. Theatre East collaborated with Mr. Nelson on the New York premiere as part of its inaugural season just over 10 years ago and as the company looks to the future, they celebrate where they've been. Featuring Gene Jones (No Country for Old Men, The Hateful Eight, The Sacrament). Also featuring Corey Finzel, John D. Ivy, Lizzy Jarrett, Mikey McNulty, Oliver Palmer, Nick Piacente, Lauren Pisano, and Grayson Taylor.

Theatre East continues to celebrate new plays! Written by Lori Fischer (PETIE) and Directed by Gabriel Barre (AMAZING GRACE).

Never ones to shy away from a challenge (Little Shop of Horrors, Pirates of Penzance, Sweeney Todd), the CCTeens (Columbia Children's Theatre's YouTheatre actors in grades 7-12) will tackle the award-winning Urinetown: The Musical January 25-27. 

That "Wells Fargo Wagon" is rolling into town as Columbia Children's Theatre (CCT) presents the Meredith Willson's classic  The Music Man Jr.. August 3-12.  Performances are Fridays at 7:00 pm, Saturdays at 3:00 and 7:00 pm, and Sundays at 3:00 pm. General admission tickets are $10.00 and $8.00 for active military and seniors with proper ID.  Advance ticket purchases are strongly recommended and may be purchased securely on-line at columbiachildrenstheatre.com. 

Montana, the short film from Writer/Director Michael Schwartz (Sunday In The Park With George, Company) will make its World Premiere at The 21st Annual Brooklyn Film Festival Saturday June 9th at Windmill Studios in Brooklyn. The film then competes on June 26th in the Digital Short Series Competition at SeriesFest in Denver, the “Sundance Of Television.” The short film is based on Schwartz's hour-long Sundance Lab finalist pilot of the same name.

Set in modern-day Red Bank, Tennessee, PETIE is essentially a Greek tragedy and like the heroes of those classics, Bonnie is a sad portrait of proud thoughtlessness that corrodes over self-inflicted loathing.

The annual Playwrights for a Cause benefit, hosted by Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, addresses powerful social and topical issues in our society through the works of prominent playwrights. This year, the event will feature stories of standing up to injustice written by celebrated authors, Catherine Filloux, Lyle Kessler, Jose Rivera, and Regina Taylor. This year, the event will be Sunday, July 23, and will benefit the New York Civil Liberties Union with 'The Protest Plays,' stories of standing up to injustice written by celebrated authors, CATHERINE FILLOUX, Lyle Kessler, JOSE RIVERA, and Regina Taylor.

Zombie lives matter! And Jonny 'without an H' Warner will try to prove just that as Columbia Children's Theatre's YouTheatre presents the Off-Broadway cult sensation Zombie Prom October 23 - 25. Performances are Friday at 7:00 pm, Saturday at 3:00 and 7:00 pm, and Sunday at 3:00 and 7:00 pm. Proceeds from the 7:00 pm Sunday performance will benefit the Officer Gregory Alia Memorial Fund and the Central Carolina Community Trust flood relief efforts. Four time Tony Award Winner Terrence McNally's IT'S ONLY A PLAY is opening on Thursday, October 9th at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. In anticipation of McNally's upcoming opening night, BroadwayWorld is taking a look at his legendary career over the past several decades.

Mothers and Sons, starring the two-time 2014 Tony® Award nominee for Best Play and Leading Actress in a Play (Tyne Daly), will play its final performance at the Sunday, June 22nd matinee at the John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street). At the time of its closing, Mothers and Sons will have played 33 preview performances and 104 regular performances.
