Gary Morris BIO

Gary Morris is a renowned American country music artist, actor, and Broadway performer. Born on December 7, 1948, in Fort Worth, Texas, Morris grew up in the small town of Brownwood. He began his career as a country music singer in the 1970s, and his powerful tenor voice quickly caught the attention of music fans and industry insiders alike.

Morris's big break came in 1981 when he recorded a duet with Crystal Gayle called "Another World." The song became a hit on both the country and pop charts, and Morris's career took off. Over the next few years, he released a string of successful albums and singles, including "Why Lady Why," "100% Chance of Rain," and "Leave Me Lonely."

In addition to his music career, Morris also began to make a name for himself as an actor. He appeared in several television shows and movies throughout the 1980s, including the TV series "Dallas" and the films "Savage Dawn" and "The Alamo: Thirteen Days to Glory."

But it was Morris's work on Broadway that truly solidified his status as a versatile and talented performer. In 1983, he made his Broadway debut in the musical "La Cage aux Folles," playing the role of Jean-Michel. The show was a smash hit and earned Morris critical acclaim for his performance.

Morris continued to work in theater throughout the 1980s and 1990s, appearing in productions of "Les Misérables," "The Phantom of the Opera," and "The King and I," among others. He also released several albums of Broadway and pop standards, showcasing his impressive vocal range and versatility.

In the early 2000s, Morris shifted his focus back to country music, releasing a number of albums and touring extensively. He also continued to act, appearing in the films "The Long Ride Home" and "The Ultimate Gift."

Morris's most recent work includes a 2017 album called "Sense of Pride," which features a mix of original songs and covers of classic country tunes. He also continues to tour and perform, showcasing his powerful vocals and engaging stage presence for audiences around the world.

Throughout his career, Morris has earned numerous accolades and awards, including Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music Awards. He is also a member of the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame and the Colorado Music Hall of Fame.

But perhaps Morris's greatest legacy is his ability to connect with audiences through his music and performances. Whether he is singing a classic country ballad or belting out a show tune on Broadway, Morris's powerful voice and charismatic stage presence have made him a beloved and enduring figure in American entertainment.
