The New Amsterdam Singers will celebrate 50 years of leadership under its Music Director Clara Longstreth in the 2017 18 season, with three sets of concerts and three world-premiere commissioned works.

The Orchestra Now (T?N) will open its New York City fall season with the first concert of its T?N at Rose Theater series at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall on October 15. Music at Kohl Mansion has announced the lineup for its 35th Anniversary season of chamber concerts in Burlingame's historic Kohl Mansion, opening Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 7 pm. The series will feature three string quartets; a piano trio; a piano-clarinet duo; a piano recital; a string octet; and a string quintet with clarinet. Highlights include four returning audience favorite ensembles, four exciting Music at Kohl debuts, free pre-concert Master Classes with Young Chamber Musicians and captivating pre-concert talks with popular Musicologist Kai Christiansen, as well as special guests, historical features and surprise treats.

After 18 seasons, Charles Bruffy plans to step down from his position as Artistic Director of the Phoenix Chorale at the end of October 2017. The concerts in October will celebrate Bruffy and his accomplishments with the Phoenix Chorale, featuring a 'Bruffy's Best' theme. 

New Amsterdam Singers (NAS), led by Music Director Clara Longstreth, will present its final concert of the season titled "Life Is But a Dream," featuring premieres of works by American composers Robert Paterson, Ronald Perera, and Ben Moore inspired by poetry and folk melodies, and a World-Premiere Commission based on Shakespeare texts by Matthew Harris in honor of the chorus's upcoming 50th anniversary. The concert will take place Thursday, June 1, 2017, at 8:00 p.m., at Saint Ignatius of Antioch Episcopal Church, 554 West End Avenue (at 87th Street).

Chicago Opera Theater (COT) presents 'The Perfect American,' a Chicago premiere opera by American composer Philip Glass. Based on American novelist Peter Stephan Jungk's 2001 novel, 'Der Konig von Amerika,' Glass' opera imagines the last three months of Walt Disney's life.

Chicago Opera Theater (COT) presents "The Invention of Morel," a world premiere of the co-commissioned opera composed by Stewart Copeland, co-founder and drummer of The Police. Based on Argentinian author Adolfo Bioy Casares' 1940 novel "La invencion de Morel," Copeland's new adaptation examines the triumph of time-bending love over convention in a story of adoration and desire. "The Invention of Morel" features London-based actor, director and writer Jonathan Moore as Stage Director/Librettist together with COT's Artistic Director Andreas Mitisek as Conductor. The press performance will be February 18 at 7:30 p.m. Subsequent performances will be February 24 at 7:30 p.m.and February 26 at 3 p.m.
