The Pearl Theatre Company and Gingold Theatre Group is currently presenting Shaw's Major Barbara, running through December 14, 2014. When the charming weapons-manufacturer Andrew Undershaft goes toe-to-toe with his passionate daughter Barbara, a Major in the Salvation Army, over his 'ill-gotten' fortune, it leads to the wager of the century. She is determined to save his soul-he is determined to open her eyes to a wider world. Their confrontation will knock their entire family's moral compass up, down, and sideways, never to be the same again.

Gingold Theatrical Group, under the leadership of David Staller, honored philanthropist Anita Jaffe and playwright/actor Charles Busch at its Annual Golden Shamrock Gala, earlier this week at Manhattan Penthouse (80 Fifth Ave at 14th Street). The GTG Golden Shamrock Award is given annually for artistic contribution to society. Past honorees include Terrence McNally, Judith Ivey, Brian Murray, and Robert Osborne. Gingold Theatrical Group's PROJECT SHAW, under the leadership of Artistic Director, David Staller, presented George Bernard Shaw's 1895 comedy, Candida, yesterday, November 25, at Symphony Space's Leonard NimoyThalia Theatre (2895 Broadway at 95th St.). Directed by David Staller, Candida featured Tony Award nominees Judy Kuhn (Candida) and Douglas Sills (Morell), with Brandon J. Vukovic (a recent Brown/Trinity grad) as Marchbanks, Alison Cimmet (The Mystery of Edwin Drood) as Prossy, Bill Kux (The Trip to Bountiful) as Burgess, Jordan Coughtry (Shakespeare Theatre of NJ Our Town) as Lexy. Following eight sold-out years of readings at The Players Club in Gramercy Park, Gingold Theatrical Group's PROJECT SHAW, under the leadership of Artistic Director, David Staller, has officially moved to Symphony Space's Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre (2895 Broadway at 95th St.). Gingold Theatrical Group's PROJECT SHAW presented Bernard Shaw's madcap comedy TOO TRUE TO BE GOOD at The Players Club (16 Gramercy Park South) in Manhattan. David Staller produced and directed. In TOO TRUE TO BE GOOD, a glamorous pair of jewel thieves (Charles Busch and Robert Cuccioli) convince a chronic young convalescent (Ryann Redmond) to steal her own jewels and run away with them to a tropical paradise. Her over-protective mother (Jackie Hoffman) comes chasing after them and a riotous time is had by all. This is Shaw's 1931 madcap high-comedy journey, which takes on fad diets, the medical profession, the military, war, religion, and sex. It's a short and lively comedic lark.
