The National Puerto Rican Day Parade (NPRDP) Board of Directors announced additional themes and tributes that will make up its 2019 celebration.  Under the theme, "One People, Many Voices," the Parade will continue celebrating the best of Puerto Rican culture and history, paying tribute to key historical figures and raising awareness on issues of importance in the community.  The Parade also announced several distinguished Puerto Ricans that will round out its roster of honorees to march up Fifth Avenue on June 9.  

Main Street Theater begins its 2014-2015 Season with Noel Coward's rarely produced drama, Peace in Our Time. MST's production is in collaboration with the University of Houston School of Theatre and Dance and features a company of 24 actors.With previews September 13, 14, and 17, Peace in Our Time opens September 18 and runs through October 19 at Main Street Theater - Rice Village, 2540 Times Blvd. Performances are on Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 3pm plus one Monday evening performance on September 22. Barbara Gehring and Linda Klein's GIRLS ONLY - THE SECRET COMEDY OF WOMEN took Houston by storm during its regional premier at Main Street Theater's Chelsea Market Location in 2012. It was so well-received that it was extended twice and did not close until February of 2013. Now, back by popular demand, Main Street Theater is bringing back the riotous romp that celebrates being a girl. As I walked into the intimate theater, there were groups of women everywhere talking giddily. Some were families, some were close friends, and some were even coworkers that had gotten together for a Girls' Night Out. Several were repeat offenders, coming back for their second time and bringing friends with them. There were even a few men who were brave enough to venture out and share in all of the laughter. After seeing the production, one thing is certainly clear: Houston can't get enough of this fun, feminine fare!

Main Street Theater is extending the run of A Civil War Christmas: An American Musical Celebration through Dec. 29. Added performances are Dec. 26 at 7:30pm, Dec. 27 & 28 at 8pm, and Dec. 29 at 3pm. Scroll down for photos of the cast in action!

Internationally renowned artist and Houston native Jef Johnson returns to Main Street Theater this fall. At MST's Theater for Youth, he is directing Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat, and on the MainStage, he will be presenting his one-man show, Azar. "Azar is an interactive, improvisational performance piece created and executed by one of the most exciting, vibrant, and inventive artists I've ever worked with," says MST Artistic Director Rebecca Greene Udden.

The new play will receive multiple readings across the U.S. and abroad.

Main Street Theater opened its 34th season with the English-language premiere of Caridad Svich's The House of the Spirits, based on the best-selling novel by Isabel Allende. With previews September 5, 6, and 9, The House of the Spirits opened Thursday, September 10, and runs through October 11 at Main Street Theater - Rice Village, 2540 Times Blvd.
