Melbourne Youth Orchestras Launches MYO UNLIMITED


MYO UNLIMITED brings the best elements of the orchestra's Ensemble Program to participants at home during Covid-19 and will run in place of regular Saturday rehearsals for the remainder of 2020, or until the orchestra is able to open its doors again.

Incubator Reading Series Announces Call For New Musical Submissions


Musical Theatre Artists of Pittsburgh announces its Open Call for Submissions of new, unproduced musicals due by midnight, July 15 to be considered for two separate Incubator public readings to be held between October 2018 and January 2019. The Incubator readings are aimed at helping creative teams move their work forward by putting it in front of an audience. MTAP is eager to connect with local artists working in any style, so long as story, character, lyrics and original music are central to the work. There is no fee to submit work and artists new to MTAP are encouraged to apply. Interested writers and writer/composer teams are invited to contact MTAPgh@gmail.com for an application form and more details or visit www.mtap.weebly.com.

Word for Word's first production of their 25th Anniversary Season is Lucia Berlin:Stories running February 14-March 11, in the Z Below Theater in San Francisco. Lucia Berlin:Stories opens with press performances February 17 & 18, Saturday 8 PM and Sunday 3 PM  (previews Feb. 14 - 16). The stories are from Lucia Berlin's posthumously published, critically acclaimed, A Manual for Cleaning Women featuring the stories 'Her First Detox', 'Emergency Room Notebook 1977', 'Unmanageable', '502' and 'Here It Is Saturday'. Directed by Nancy Shelby and JoAnne Winter, Lucia Berlin:Stories is set to an evocative jazz score by Marcus Shelby, and illuminated with vibrant projections by Naomie Kremer. Author Lydia Davis in The New Yorker described Berlin's work: 'Lucia Berlin's stories are electric, they buzz and crackle as the live wires touch....This is exhilarating writing' On Sunday, February 25,following the 3PM performance: Lucia's Sons, a post-show talk with Jeff Berlin and David Berlin in conversation with the audience and remarking about the performances, stories, and their life with their mother Lucia Berlin.

Cast and Artists Announced for HOT METAL MUSICALS


Musical Theatre Artists of Pittsburgh­­ announces a cast of 8 singers, who will perform 21 songs by 31 artists in its second edition of Hot Metal Musicals, a showcase of members' work. With the assistance of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and extensive support from the Pittsburgh CLO, Hot Metal Musicals will be presented on Monday, July 17, 2017, at 7:15 pm at the Cabaret Theater at Theater Square, 655 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA, 15222.

Stephanie Riso's THE STORM Concludes MTAP's First Season of Hot Metal Musicals Incubator Readings


MTAP's Hot Metal Musicals Incubator presents its third installment of new musical theatre work-in-development with a public reading of The Storm with book, lyrics and music by Stephanie Riso. This free reading, featuring a cast of 15 and directed by Pittsburgh CLO's producing director Mark Fleischer, will be held on Sunday, January 15, at 6:00 p.m. in the Pittsburgh CLO's Charles Gray Auditorium, 130 CLO Academy Way in downtown Pittsburgh. MTAP's Hot Metal Musicals Incubator readings are being presented with the extensive cooperation and support of the Pittsburgh CLO.

Brooklyn Museum Announces David Berliner As President And COO


The Brooklyn Museum announced today that David Berliner has become its new President and Chief Operating Officer, overseeing the Museum's operations and spearheading new strategic initiatives. Berliner had been a Board member and will now take a central operating role. Effective immediately, he will oversee operations and administration, financial management, outreach, and marketing and communications, and will work with Shelby White and Leon Levy Director Anne Pasternak on strategic planning and development.

Musical Theatre Artists of Pittsburgh's Hot Metal Musicals Incubator will be relaunched this summer with  two free public readings. The Incubator, aimed at helping creative teams move their work forward by thrusting it in front of an audience, will kick-off Monday, June 27, 2016 with Dear Boy, book and lyrics by Jeanne Drennan and music by David Berlin, followed by Me, Myself and Others by Eva Rainforth on Monday, August 29, 2016. Both will be presented at CLO's Charles Gray Auditorium at 7:00 pm.
