ONCE is an eight-time Tony Award®-winning musical from 2012, based on the 2007 Academy Award®-winning film of the same name by John Carney. It is running now on ZACH Theatre's Topfer Stage in the first Texas regional theatre production. ONCE is a contemporary love story about a complex and decidedly odd relationship that is driven by the power of music to connect people. ONCE is the story of an Irish musician and a Czech immigrant who are drawn together by their shared love of music. Their surprise friendship and eventual collaboration, heightened by the raw emotion of the music they create together, evolves into a powerful but extremely complicated romance. What makes this musical even more unusual is the fact that the cast also serves as the orchestra.

ZACH Theatre is proud to announce the cast for the first Texas regional theatre production of the eight-time Tony Award-winning musical Once, running September 19-October 28, 2018 in The Topfer.  Speaking to Austin's live music roots, ZACH's Topfer lobby will transform into an Irish pub, creating an immersive experience from start to finish. With direction by Producing Artistic Director Dave Steakley, Musical Direction by Allen Robertson, Scenic Design by Broadway designer Donald Eastman, music and lyrics by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, and book by Enda Walsh, audiences will fall for this unexpected romance that features a talented ensemble of actor/musicians who play their own instruments on stage.

WaterTower Theatre Producing Artistic Director and Loop Executive Producer Terry Martin today announced the line-up for the 2016 Out of the Loop Fringe Festival, February 25 - March 6, 2016, at the Addison Theatre Centre. Six world premieres highlight this year's diverse Festival as well as 2 one-woman cabarets, 4 dance works, 1 circus act, 3 solo shows, 1 musical reading, 2 play readings, 9 theatre productions, 1 interdisciplinary piece, 1 spoken word performance, a 24-hour play festival, and many returning favorites. The Festival is made possible, in part, through the generous support of The Town of Addison and the Texas Commission on the Arts as well as media sponsors, TheaterJones.com and the Dallas Observer. Glass Half Full Theatre's original production of MISSIONARY POSITION: PLEASURE JOURNEYS FOR THE INTREPID LADY EXPLORER playing at Salvage Vanguard Theatre is a pure pleasure to experience on many levels.With an ensemble cast of three, and running at 40 minutes, not a moment is wasted in keeping the audience entertained. Lady Hortense (Jay Byrd) welcomes patrons in the lobby, engaging everyone in amusing conversation and then takes the lead, ushering everyone into the theatre. On stage we find our intrepid lady explorers posed in large frames, the effect is charming. The extremely witty Lady Hortense welcomes the audience to 'The Ladies Symposium Where Ladies Share Knowledge With Ladies' and introduces the guest speakers.

Tip's resulting adventure into the unknown is the heart of Bright Now Beyond, a new music theatre piece by Daniel Alexander Jones and Bobby Halvorson, presented by Salvage Vanguard Theater.

Industry Night is coming! It's an old-school variety show featuring the Austin Arts & Entertainment Industry. Every Monday in July (7th, 14th, 21st, & 28th) at the North Door in East Austin, local artists and entertainers will salute the community that supports them! Doors open at 6pm show starts at 7pm! Inspired by the great variety shows like The Dean Martin Show, Ed Sullivan, and the Muppets, Industry Night will showcase some of the best of the Austin Arts & Entertainment Industry and feature its own, locally created, original content. There will be Industry folks. There will be drinks (and drink SPECIALS). There will be sketches, music, film, dance, comedy and so much more!

Adaptations are a tricky business. Staying too close to the source material may make the audience wonder why the material was adapted in the first place, and straying too far may seem disrespectful (everyone involved in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, that one's directed at you). But occasionally, an adaptation comes along that has clear reverence towards the original work but is also unafraid to stand on its own. Such is the case with Breaking String Theater's fantastic production of Three, or The Sound of the Great Existential Nothingness, a new and exciting modernization of Anton Chekhov's Three Sisters.

As featured on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and NPR's "All Things Considered," The Intergalactic Nemesis Book One: "Target Earth" takes to the stage in a new genre: a sci-fi live-action, graphic novel. With an uncanny combination of comic book meets radio serial, mediums converge as three actors, a Foley artist and musician perform all the voices, sound effects and music for more than 1,000 hand-drawn, full-color-and-larger-than-life comic book panels projected on to a screen. The out-of-this-world adventure of The Intergalactic Nemesis Book One: "Target Earth" will run at The New Victory Theater, 209 West 42nd Street from April 5 through 13.
