The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced today that The Costume Institute's spring 2018 exhibition will be Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, on view from May 10 through October 8, 2018 (preceded on May 7 by The Costume Institute Benefit).

On Monday, May 21 at 7:00 p.m., come to the Sheen Center for Thought & Culture (18 Bleecker Street, at the corner of Elizabeth Street) for Inside 'Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,' a conversation with curators about the largest exhibition in the history of The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, featuring a significant loan of papal robes and accessories from the Vatican's Sistine Chapel Sacristy. On Friday, September 2, and Saturday, September 3, the exhibition will remain open to the public until midnight. The Museum normally closes at 9 p.m. on Friday andSaturday evenings. The exhibition will end its run on Labor Day, Monday, September 5.

(New York, July 7, 2016)—Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology at The Metropolitan Museum of Art has been extended by three weeks through Labor Day, Monday, September 5. The exhibition, organized by The Costume Institute, opened to the public on May 5, and has drawn more than 350,000 visitors in its first nine weeks.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute spring 2016 exhibition, Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology officially opened last week on the 5th of May. The Vilcek Foundation just announced the winners of its annual Vilcek Prizes, recognizing immigrant contributions to the American arts and sciences. The 2016 Vilcek Prize in Theatre, presented to an immigrant artist with a record of major achievement in his/her field, is awarded to Blanka Zizka, the recipient of a $100,000 prize.
