MTEA Creates Representation Committee And Offers Free Webinar On Race, Equity And Inclusion In Musical Theatre


In June of 2020 the Musical Theatre Educators' Alliance (MTEA), an international organization of teachers and professionals, created a much-needed committee for Representation, Equity, and Inclusion (REI), led by MTEA's newly appointed Lead Diversity Officer, Tim Espinosa of Fullerton College.

Shanna Waite Appointed New Head of UW Musical Theater Program


The University of Washington Musical Theater Program is announcing the appointment of Shanna Waite as its new program director. Waite will oversee the program through the end of its pilot phase in 2020. She takes over from former program head Wilson Mendieta, who departed in June to join the Dance faculty at Chapman University in Orange, California.

The University of Washington School of Drama, under the leadership of Executive Director Todd London, has announced its 2016-2017 Season. As with their 75th anniversary season, the School of Drama will continue to build artistic partnerships with both local and national artists in an effort to provide more diverse learning opportunities for their students and create a laboratory environment within the School. Twin Cities contemporary dance institution Shapiro & Smith Dance celebrates 25 years with a spring program at the Cowles Center for Dance & Performing Arts that includes two world premieres and three repertory works.
