Lyric Opera of Kansas City General Director and CEO Deborah Sandler today announced the launch of a new digital series, Opera in Eight Parts, as part of New Visions, Lyric Opera's revised innovative fall programming.

The two remaining mainstage season productions of The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs and Carmen, originally announced as part of the 2020-2021 season in March 2020, are now postponed until the productions can be performed safely.

Lyric Opera of Kansas City concludes its 59th season with Gilbert & Sullivan's delightful comic operetta The Pirates of Penzance  April 22, 26, 28, 29, and 30 at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. Lyric Opera of Kansas City concludes its dynamic 57th season with Giacomo Puccini's vibrant Tosca, April 18, 22, 24 and 26 at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. The production will be sung in Italian with English and Italian titles.

The Cinema Audio Society Awards for Outstanding Sound Mixing Motion Picture were just announced, with BIRDMAN leading the pack.

This year's Creative Arts telecast partner is FXM; a two-hour edited version of the ceremony will air Sunday, August 24 at 8:00 PM ET/PT with an encore at 10:00 PM ET/PT on FXM. The program will be streamed in its entirety as part of the Backstage LIVE! show on Emmys.com at 12:00 PM PT/3:00 PM ET on Monday, August 25.

And what's worse, the odds on recovering these lost children are somewhere between slim and none. Some of them do not survive the initial abduction due to lack of care or the use of drugs to keep them subdued. A large percentage is transported to another state or country, making their trail almost impossible to follow. In author Gary Kalter's new book 'On Mason Mountain,' the story tells of a group of parents who have lost their children in a horrible accident only to find that things are not always as they appear.
