Arden Theatre Company is bringing audiences back into the world of August Wilson's ten-part series, The American Century Cycle. This time audiences will journey to Pittsburgh in the late 1990s for the final play of the cycle, August Wilson's Radio Golf. This bittersweet drama of assimilation and alienation in nineties America traces the forces of change on a neighborhood and its people caught between history and the twenty-first century. This is the fifth play in the cycle that the Arden has produced.  Kash Goins, who was an actor in the Arden's production of Two Trains Running, returns to direct. August Wilson's Radio Golf runs March 23-April 16.

I recall with reverence the illustrated cover of the original cast album of MY FAIR LADY by the acclaimed caricaturist, the late Al Hirschfeld (who has a Broadway theater named in his honor). It featured the author of 'Pygmalion' which MY FAIR LADY is based on, George Bernard Shaw, overlooking a cloud in heaven with puppet strings holding up the two lead characters in the show, Henry Higgins and Eliza Doolittle, It's a true classic. So was the original cast which opened on Broadway in 1956 and starred Julie Andrews and Rex Harrison and later became a smash movie with Harrison and Audrey Hepburn in 1964. I recall having a reserved seat ticket for the film.

A star-studded line up came out to experience the Billie Holiday Theatre's New York Premiere of Richard Wesley's  AUTUMN   over the weekend. Celebrities included  Denzel Washington,  Alicia Keys,  Spikeand  Tonya Lee,  Ted Lange,  John David Washington   and renowned theater icons, including  Stephen McKinley Henderson,  Woodie King   and  Anthony Chisholm.

New Freedom Theatre is pleased to announce the appointment of Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj as its new Artistic Director.  Maharaj, who had served as Guest Artistic Director last season, is only the fourth full-time artistic director in the company's fifty year history, following foundr John E. 1812 Productions is pleased to begin its 2015-2016 season with Morris Panych's newest comedy, The Shoplifters. The Shoplifters premiered at Arena Stage in 2014. This Philadelphia premiere will be produced as part of the 2015 Philadelphia Fringe Festival.

Everyman Theatre has announced its 25th anniversary season. For the first time ever, the company will present a rotating repertory of two masterpieces of American theatre: Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller and A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams. Both productions will feature the same cast and performances will rotate from day to day. Known as The Great American Rep, this event will take place from April 5 through June 12, 2016.
