One of the greatest Canadian voices in classical music, contralto Maureen Forrester was a legend. The Toronto Symphony Orchestra paid tribute to the beloved singer, in a concert of new works for Mezzo-soprano and one of Forrester's most memorable recital pieces, Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde (The Song of the Earth).

The Chicago area's 44th annual Bach Week Festival, opening April 28 in Evanston, Ill., will feature festival debuts of local and visiting artists of international stature in concerts devoted to the music of the festival's namesake, German Baroque composer J. S. Bach.

Falletta leads the Virginia Arts Festival Chamber Players, and exemplary soloists Baritone Roderick Williams, Tenor Charles Reid and Mezzo Soprano Susan Platts in this recording of Schoenberg's arrangements of Mahler's songs, Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen (Songs of a Wayfarer) (arr. A. Schoenberg for voice and ensemble) and Das Lied von der Erde (The Song of the Earth) (arr. A. Schoenberg for voice and ensemble).

Celebrated as a pinnacle accomplishment in music history, 'The Great Passion' will be gloriously illuminated by the venerable symphonic choir alongside the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and a cast of internationally acclaimed soloists.

Brunch will be available for purchase before and during the performances, and patrons are encouraged to dress casually.

Now in its third season, the Festival will offer thirty, 45-minute concerts in four concert venues in the heart of Montreal's arts and entertainment district, including Maison symphonique de Montreal-the new 2,100-seat home of the OSM in the historic Place des Arts.

The Chicago Philharmonic continues its season with Romantic Serenade on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Nichols Concert Hall in Evanston.
