Shereen Martin BIO

Shereen has performed in productions ranging from MEASURE FOR MEASURE and TITUS ANDRONICUS at the RSC to THE BLACK ALBUM and THE HOUR WE NOTHING OF EACH OTHER at the National Theatre. Most recently, she performed as the title role in THE ONLY TRUE HISTORY OF LIZZIE FINN, directed by the award-winning Blanche McIntyre. Other theatre credits include; THE BACCHAE (Abbey Theatre), THE BOMB (Tricycle Theatre), MODEL FOR MANKIND (Cock Tavern Theatre) and Viola in TWELFTH NIGHT (Albery Theatre).

Shereen is best known for her role in the BAFTA award-winning drama, BRITZ, directed by Peter Kosminsky.

Other TV credits include Dublin Murders (BBC One), Virgin Media One’s Blood opposite Adrian Dunbar, Midsomer Murders & Vera.

TEMPLE, with Simon Russell Beale, Begins at Donmar Warehouse Tonight

Howard Davies will direct Steve Waters' new play TEMPLE, a fictionalised account of the events that took place during the 2011 Occupy demonstration outside St Paul's Cathedral. Simon Russell Beale will return to the Donmar stage to play the Dean having previously starred in The Philanthropist, Twelfth Night and Uncle Vanya (for which he won the 2003 Olivier Award for Best Actor). The show starts tonight, May 21, with an official opening slated for May 27. TEMPLE runs through July 25, 2015.

Saleh Bakri to Lead FIREWORKS at The Royal Court; Full Cast Announced

Casting is announced today for Fireworks, a new play by Palestinian playwright and poet Dalia Tala. Directed by the Royal Court's International Associate Richard Twyman and set in Palestine, the play is inspired by recent events in Gaza and gives new insight to the impact of war on childhood. The Royal Court has been working in Palestine since 1998, the first workshop was held at the Paradise hotel in Bethlehem and led by playwright Stephen Jeffreys, director Phyllida Lloyd and Royal Court International Director Elyse Dodgson. Fireworks has been developed with The Royal Court International Department over the last two years, and marks the first full production by an emerging Palestinian playwright which has been developed and staged by the company.
