American Repertory Theater has announced additional programming associated with its upcoming production of Life of Pi. Performances began December 6 at the Loeb Drama Center in Harvard Square and continues through January 29, 2023.
On Thursday, December 15, 2022, American Repertory Theater celebrated the Opening Night of the North American Premiere of Life of Pi. The production will transfer to Broadway’s Schoenfeld Theater in March 2023. Check out the photos here!

American Repertory Theater has announced the cast of Life of Pi, written by Lolita Chakrabarti based on the best-selling novel by Yann Martel and directed by Max Webster. Life of Pi is currently playing at Wyndham’s Theatre in London’s West End where it won five Olivier Awards including Best New Play, Best Scenic Design, and Best Lighting Design.
BroadwayWorld has just learned that the cast has been assembled for Diane Paulus' Broadway-Bound 1776, which just began a Zoom workshop. Exact production dates have not been announced, though the A.R.T. has confirmed that the musical will play as a part of its 2020/21 Season, and Roundabout will bring it to the American Airlines Theatre in Spring 2021.
ArtsEmerson and the American Repertory Theater present the world premiere of THE WHITE CARD by playwright and poet Claudia Rankine. The groundbreaking piece of theater begins a conversation and challenges us to stay in the room to talk about race in America. It suggests that society cannot progress if whiteness stays invisible and unexamined. At the end of the play, Act II encourages the audience to participate in the dialogue with facilitators guiding the process.

But those in the industry know that, at this particular moment, the most important person is a woman sitting stage right in front of three monitors. That woman, with a headset on and binder in front of her, is Stage Manager Sharika Niles. She is the one who will soon give the word to start the show. She is the one who tonight is in charge of 'calling the show.' She is the one who will dictate the show the audience sees by giving the word for a spotlight, sound effect, set movement, etc..
