The original Off Broadway cast recording of “Other Lives: The Story Songs of Michael Colby” (Jay Records), a cycle of story songs by lyricist Michael Colby (Charlotte Sweet, Ludlow Ladd), with music by a variety of composers, including Alex Rybeck, Larry Hochman, Joseph Thalken, Steven Silverstein, will be officially released on CD and all digital music platforms on Friday, June 16th.

SCIALLI PRODUCTIONS has announced the world premiere production of Tony Scialli’s MAGIC BOX directed and choreographed by Liz Piccoli. MAGIC BOX will play a three-performances-only limited engagement at Off-Broadway’s Triad Theatre.

New York-based Passport to Broadway returns with another program for Indonesian performers aspiring to be the next Broadway star. Passport to Broadway has previously worked with Indonesian students by providing various training programs, workshops, and information sessions in performing arts.

Arthur Giron, playwright, passed away February 2, 2022. A memorial for Giron will be taking place at the Cherry Lane Theatre, Thursday, May 26 at noon, open to the public. 

THE BLACK COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO, an original musical by Michele R. Hampton, directed by Cate  Cammarata, with musical direction by Seth Weinstein, is scheduled for a limited run beginning late  September at Off-Broadway's Theatre Row (410 West 42nd St. NY). 

INDONESIA MENUJU BROADWAY 2021 offers a nearly year-long Online & Offline Musical Theater Conservatory, in which 100 select students (aged 15-30) will study musical theater in a mix of online and offline classes; the syllabus is said to be adapted from the first year curriculum of American conservatories.

Visiting the Great White Way is any musical theatre lover's dream. Last July, that dream came true for 13 winners of Indonesia Menuju Broadway (IMB) as they attended musical theatre workshop on Broadway. Now they return to perform WHAT I DID FOR LOVE, a musical showcase featuring Broadway hits.

Internationally acclaimed Voice Teacher, Badiene Magaziner, will be hosting a benefit at FEINSTEIN'S/54Below on November 7th at 7PM, Jillian Zack, Music Director. to raise funds for SHINEmsd.org, an organization founded to support survivors of the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School massacre which took place last February in Parkland, Florida. The benefit is to help those directly affected by the tragedy and to raise awareness for better gun safety laws.

The StudentsLive team has a habit of touching down in China around the time of a major storm. As we approached on Friday morning at 3 a.m. - maybe the only hour at which a 75-minutes-early arrival is less than desirable - there was a bit of shaking, and the plane swerved as it decelerated after landing. On the drive into town from the airport, we could barely see through the windshield due to the downpour.

Students from the Badiene Magaziner Vocal Studio will be performing 'Shine' a song written by Sawyer Garrity and Andrea Pena of the Stoneman Douglas High School Drama Club, at this Saturday's March For Our Lives event in Central Park.

After six intense days of learning, studying, practicing, and expressing, the big day arrived, and in the morning we drove to our venue and walked upstairs to the second-floor theatre. It was chilly inside, but things warmed up throughout the day, aided by a single ambitious backstage heater.

One day to go! We've been practicing our show song by song, breaking it down into pieces and fine-tuning each section. Muscle memory is kicking in, and the students are starting to sing and dance more like an ensemble. They have a greater understanding of the purpose of each song in the story they're telling, and they're improving at remembering the sequence of events. We ended day six with two run-throughs, the second much smoother than the first.

'If you can feel a song, you can dance.' Such were the words of wisdom of nine-year-old Peter, one of many students to have breakthroughs in the past couple of days. Our cast members have been studying so hard to get the lyrics and movement correct, and they have done an admirable job. But they are only starting to feel the songs and express the attitudes that are such an important part of the performance.

By far, our students' biggest challenge is to act with feeling. Pronunciation, melody, and dance steps can all be practiced to perfection, but performing while conveying a convincing attitude is difficult for someone unaccustomed to the task. Many of the students are naturally shy, and they are used to approaching schoolwork seriously.

This week, StudentsLive returned to China for the third consecutive year to bring an intensive seven-day Broadway program to students in Guangzhou. Nineteen youngsters from the Clifford International School, aged seven to twelve, joined us at the Guangzhou Seamen's Club hotel in the center of the old city to learn a half-hour show full of singing and choreography. The StudentsLive team comprises director and founder Amy Weinstein, choreographer Stephen Brotebeck, and musical director Seth Weinstein.

The Operation Opera Christmas Spectacular will be presented for one matinee holiday extravaganza at the National Opera Center on December 10, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. This song packed performance is the only place in town where one can hear a dozen operas, plus a full juke-box of pop tunes and Christmas carols.
