Broadway stages are dark now, but join us to relive the bright lights of American musicals in the 1990s. With British musicals dominating the Broadway scene, the 1990s ushered in the smash hits “Rent” and “The Producers” among others.

The 30th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) will present Olivia Colman with the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actress for The Favourite at its annual Film Awards Gala. The award will be presented by her co-star in the film Emma Stone. The Film Awards Gala, hosted by Mary Hart and Entertainment Tonight, and presented by American Express, will be held on Thursday, January 3 at the Palm Springs Convention Center. The Festival runs January 3-14.   

Victoria Theatre Association's 2017-2018 Cool Films Series,  presents triple threat - singing, acting and dancing - duo, Fred Astaire and Jane Powell in ROYAL WEDDING: Aug. 18, 7 p.m.; Aug. 19, 7 p.m.; and Aug. 20, 3 p.m. 

Game of Thrones returns this weekend, but those hungry for political machinations and manipulations can also find a feast of them in Helen Edmundson's 2015 stealth thriller about a little-known 18th-century English monarch and her courtly advisors' jockeying for influence. With plenty of resonance for 2017, it's rich history with contemporary bite.

Blumenthal Performing Arts will begin hosting free outdoor movie nights in July at Spirit Square. The Square, at the corner of College and 7th Street, has a brand new look and will be transformed into the perfect movie event space multiple times throughout the summer.

On the 51st anniversary of Winston Churchill's death, The Court Theatre's production of Winston's Birthday brings together four excessive personalities from this iconic British family at a luncheon to celebrate Winston's 88th birthday in 1962. The Churchills are forced to confront half a century of unfinished family business which includes family lies, evasions and resentments.

Full casting is announced for the Royal Shakespeare Company productions of Congreve's Love for Love and Helen Edmundson's new play Queen Anne, both playing in repertory in the Swan Theatre this Winter.
