22nd Annual San Diego International Film Festival announces an outstanding line-up of premieres from around the world. The opening night film is 'THE HOLDOVERS'.
Count on the Festival to get the conversation started with Social Impact Films and Q&As including: Environmental Sustainability, Fighting Government Oppression, Individuals with Disabilities and Inclusion, PTSD in the Military, Native American Issues, LGBTQAI+ Rights, Opioid Crisis and other topics affecting our world and our communities.
Yesterday afternoon, Tony and Oscar winner Joel Grey hosted a special performance of Benjamin Scheuer's The Lion, with guests including Ben Vereen, Penny Fuller, Ron Rifkin, Sam Shahid, Paul Downs Collaizo, Reeve Carney, and more. Following the performance Joel moderated a Q&A with Benjamin the audience members, including a special champagne toast. Check out photos below!
According to the New York Post, Grey, who compiled the book by "walking around his 'hood, taking art shots," found the space doing just that. From there, he contacted owner Carla Ruben of Creative Edge Parties, who helped Grey open up the space for the celebration.
Last evening, Isabel and Ruben Toledo hosted a group of friends for cocktails at their Atelier before taking them to the theater in a caravan of cars to see the show and Isabel's costumes on stage. Guests included Debi Mazar, Valerie Steele, Michaela angela Davis, Tommy Tune, Candy Spelling, Joey Arias, William Ivey Long, Joel Grey, Paige Powell, Albe Clemente, Chiara Clemente and more. Focusing on exterior city billboards, covered and re-covered over time and transformed by the elements, these works capture the ever-changing layers of faded iconography that New Yorkers live amongst but rarely notice. The Billboard Papers represents Grey's first large-format exhibit.
