Join Russell Shorto, author of The Island at the Center of the World, and other esteemed historians for a conversation the complex story of the beginnings of New Amsterdam and how the choices of the Dutch shaped what became New York.

PBS and Ideate Media announced today a new collaboration with Emmy-winner Ed Redlich ('The Practice,' 'Shark,' 'Unforgettable') and Ridley Scott's production company Scott Free to bring the acclaimed best-seller The Island at the Center of the World to life on PBS.

NEW Productions, the company behind the immensely successful 'SOLDAAT VAN ORANJE', has announced its upcoming project, a musical about the Dutch origins of the city of New York. It will be based on the book 'The Island at the Center of the World' by American author and historian Russell Shorto.
