Teatro Vista announces the world premiere of Stephanie Alison Walker's The Abuelas, a sequel to her acclaimed play The Madres, February 9-March 17, 2019 at Victory Gardens Theater, 2433 N. Meet King Henry VIII who, upon learning that the Pope will not grant him a divorce from Catherine of Aragon, decides to break from the Catholic Church. Enter Lord Chancellor Sir Thomas More, a long-time friend of the King's and a staunch Catholic. After Henry declares that he will break from the Catholic Church and passes a bill requiring his subjects to agree to Henry's supremacy over all, Thomas resigns his Chancellorship and refuses to take the oath. This brilliant and gripping story of one man's courage and convictions will move all who experience it.

16th Street Theater announces their Season Twelve 2019: Shadows and Light featuring three new plays by Chicago authors Steven Strafford, Julie Ganey and Loy A. Webb, as well as a one-nighter of The South Side by WBEZ's Natalie Moore and a new play series curated by 16th Street's 2018-2019 NNPN Producer-in-Residence Nancy Garcia Loza.

MOVING ARTS announces the Los Angeles production of the Joint World Premiere, presented by Moving Arts at Atwater Village Theatre in association with Moxie Theatre of San Diego and Promethean Theatre of Chicago, of BLISS (or Emily Post is Dead!), written by Jami Brandli (Through the Eye of a Needle) and directed by Darin Anthony (Apocalypse Play). National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that collaborates in innovative ways to develop, produce, and extend the life of new plays, celebrates the final production of its 74th Rolling World Premiere (RWP): The Madres by Stephanie Alison Walker. The Roll included productions at Skylight Theatre Company (Los Angeles), Teatro Vista (Chicago), and Moxie Theatre (San Diego), before its opening on August 31 at Shrewd Productions (Austin), where it runs through September 15.

Cast and production team were announced today for Promethean Theatre Ensemble's Joint World Premiere production BLISS (OR EMILY POST IS DEAD!) by Jami Brandli. Promethean's staging, to be directed by Anna Bahow, is part of a rolling world premiere for the play, along with San Diego's Moxie Theatre and Los Angeles's Moving Arts at Atwater Village Theatre. BLISS (OR EMILY POST IS DEAD!) is a dramedy in which four women of Greek tragedy - Clytemnestra, Medea, Antigone, and Cassandra - become New Jersey neighbors in the year 1960. The SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE called it "a hilarious, sharply written and fast-paced comedy-drama."

PCPA's upcoming summer season will include six plays in three venues from June 14 through October 21, 2018. Just added to the season are An Iliad by Lisa Peterson and Dennis O'Hare and Muthaland written and performed by Minita Gandhi running in repertory in October.
