To celebrate the return of in-person theatre to the community, American Stage is presenting Pop-Up! Performances: Uncaged on May 14-16 at The Factory St. Pete’s outdoor venue, an ideal backdrop for live entertainment in a safe outdoor setting.

On Friday, July 20th, at 7pm, ARTS46/4 presents Trust Me, an original immersive theatre experience starring improv duo Hawk & Wayne as Senatorial candidates hosting a public debate. Before the public hears what the would-be Senators want them to hear, they see things the politicians don't want them to see. The event follows the candidates through vignettes curated for public consumption as well as moments of voyeurism, and culminates in the debate and the audience voting. Trust Me utilizes the campus grounds for this site-specific original work and much of the content will be improvised.
After a highly successful '17 season, the Heather's artistic director Ward Smith announces the Heather's first production of 2018 with Sam Bobrick's comedy BAGGAGE. Two difficult and single people, Bradley and Phyllis, both trying to heal from their respective disappointing relationships, get their luggage mixed up at the airport. After a very disagreeable first encounter, the two decide to help each other get over their heartaches by forcing a friendship that eventually leads to the two discovering that while they may be too difficult for everyone else in the world, but they are perfect for each other. Throw in an analyst, a kooky female friend of Phyllis and direction from film, television and stage actor Ricky Wayne and you have the ingredients for this very funny comedy.

For the first time in the Tampa Bay Area, American Stage is pleased to offer this unique program specializing in the art of long form improvisation training and performance. This program, divided into four sections, will guide participants through the foundations of improvisation as a performance medium and eventually place them in teams that will have the opportunity to perform in our Sunday Comedy Series**. All classes are taught by improvisation professionals. Our instructors have trained and worked with such groups as Second City and The Groundlings.
American Stage Education offers classes for adults of all experience levels looking to explore their creativity and expand their theatrical knowledge. Led by exceptional Teaching Artists with extensive professional experience in acting, directing, and playwriting, American Stage Education offers a variety of lectures, classes and workshops geared toward both the theatre novice as well as the advanced performer. Classes are available to students throughout the year.

American Stage Theatre Company has announced the last production of their 2012-2013 Season on the Mainstage: ART by Yasmina Reza and translated by Christopher Hampton. This production won a Tony Award for 'Best Play' and the Olivier Award for 'Best Comedy'. Previews are tonight and tomorrow, August 7 & 8. Opening Night is August 9 and the production runs through September 8.
